Video Editor — Art Channel (Premiere Pro, ongoing)
Confidential employer
Stable, recurring part-time video editing work for an art YouTube channel + social media. We make multicam painting process tutorials: satisfying, color-rich, music-synced. Hiring one editor, long-term.
Scope of work
Work is paid per project. One project is the full set of deliverables cut from a single filmed painting tutorial:
- 1 long-form YouTube edit ~10–15 min, from pre-synced multicam footage
- 2 Facebook ---------- — 3–5 min, reframed to square
- 4 vertical Shorts/Reels
Rate is agreed per project and discussed with shortlisted applicants. Volume is currently around two projects a month, with room to grow.
Turnaround: long-form first cut within 5 business days; Shorts and cutdowns within 3 days.
Revisions: 3 consolidated rounds per deliverable included.
Required
- 3+ years editing professionally
- Expert-level Premiere Pro (not Final Cut, not DaVinci, not CapCut)
- Strong color grading
- Strong spoken and written English — we use Telegram for day-to-day messaging and have live calls when needed
- Google Drive
The style
Process videos (painting tutorial), no talking head. The artist is the subject, and the painting process is the focus.
- Satisfying and dynamic — the painting has rhythm. Pacing that breathes: fast when the pour demands it, slow when the detail does.
- Color-led — consistent grading across 3–4 camera angles.
- Music-synced — reveals and cuts land on the beat.
- Short-form with the same feel — satisfying and dynamic, focused on the art process, the beautiful details and reveal.
This is a specialist style. If your experience is mostly talking-head, gaming, or corporate video, this role likely isn’t the right fit. Reference videos — both long-form and short-form — will be shared with shortlisted applicants.
Portfolio required — applications without a portfolio will not be reviewed
Process
Submit your application ? complete paid edit test with real footage ? begin a trial period if selected. We’re hiring one editor for the long term, not a one-off project.
To apply, reply with
1. Your portfolio — 2–4 full long-form edits that best match the work described above, plus up to 5 short-form edits (YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, or similar). Send published links we can watch in a browser, not files to download. If you were not the only editor working on a project, specify exactly which parts of the video were completed by you.
2. In 2–3 sentences: what makes a video tutorial satisfying to watch?
3. Availability: your time zone, the hours per week you can commit, and whether the turnaround above is realistic for you.
Begin your reply with the word PHTHALO so we know you read this in full.
Serious applicants only. Applications that skip the questions or the code word are not reviewed.
