Project Manager
Confidential employer
We are seeking a detail-oriented Technical Project Manager to coordinate construction-related orders and ensure that the products being approved, ordered, manufactured, and shipped match the requirements of each project.
The primary responsibility of this position is technical and organizational accuracy. You will compare project requirements against supplier-submitted line drawings, specifications, order confirmations, and shipping records. You will identify discrepancies, obtain missing information, and make sure requirements are satisfied before items move into production or shipment.
This is not a general administrative project-management position. Candidates must have practical experience reading and interpreting architectural, construction, shop, or fabrication drawings.
Supplier pricing and commercial negotiations are handled by another team member. This role is responsible for technical compliance, documentation, coordination, and project tracking.
Key Responsibilities
- Review project drawings, schedules, specifications, purchase requirements, and related documents to understand exactly what is required.
- Review and approve supplier-submitted line drawings and shop drawings against approved project requirements and specifications.
- Compare supplier drawings, product data, order confirmations, and other submittals to the applicable project documents.
- Verify dimensions, quantities, configurations, finishes, materials, hardware, accessories, tolerances, and other specified requirements.
- Confirm that what is ordered matches what was approved and required for the project.
- Identify drawing discrepancies, omissions, scope gaps, dimensional conflicts, and specification deviations before production begins.
- Clearly mark up drawings and prepare organized comments for supplier revisions.
- Maintain approval records and ensure that suppliers and internal teams are working from the latest document revisions.
- Coordinate technical questions and missing information with suppliers, internal team members, designers, contractors, and North American stakeholders.
- Escalate substitutions, exceptions, and unresolved technical issues for management approval when they fall outside established requirements or approval authority.
- Track items from initial request through drawing approval, order placement, production, shipment, delivery, and closeout.
- Maintain accurate order trackers showing quantities, approval status, production status, expected completion dates, shipping dates, tracking details, delivery status, and outstanding issues.
- Monitor production and shipping milestones and follow up when information or documentation is overdue.
- Confirm that shipping documents and item quantities correspond with the approved order.
- Provide concise project updates identifying current status, upcoming deadlines, discrepancies, risks, and decisions required.
- Maintain organized project folders containing specifications, drawings, revisions, approvals, purchase records, and shipping documents.
- Help improve checklists, trackers, templates, and standard procedures for drawing review and order management.
Required Qualifications
- At least three years of relevant experience in construction coordination, architectural coordination, project management, drafting, engineering, procurement coordination, estimating, manufacturing, or a related field.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, construction drawings, line drawings, shop drawings, or fabrication drawings.
- Strong understanding of dimensions, drawing scales, elevations, sections, details, schedules, specifications, annotations, and revision markings.
- Experience comparing supplier submittals or product information against drawings and written specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify inconsistencies across multiple documents.
- Experience maintaining order, procurement, production, or shipping trackers.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Clear and professional written communication when requesting corrections or explaining technical discrepancies.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and document revisions without losing track of details.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize assignments, and follow issues through to resolution.
- Reliable computer, high-speed internet connection, and a suitable remote-working environment.
- Availability for scheduled overlap with both Asian and North American business hours.
Preferred Qualifications
- Education or professional experience in architecture, civil engineering, construction management, interior design, drafting, manufacturing, or a related discipline.
- Experience supporting construction projects in the United States or Canada.
- Experience reviewing millwork, cabinetry, doors, windows, fixtures, finishes, architectural products, or other manufactured construction components.
- Familiarity with both imperial and metric measurements and the ability to convert between them accurately.
- Experience reviewing product data sheets, finish schedules, hardware schedules, material submittals, or samples.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Adobe Acrobat, Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, ---------- , Asana, ClickUp, Smartsheet, or similar tools.
- Understanding of manufacturing lead times, international shipping milestones, and basic quality-control procedures.
The ability to prepare original CAD drawings is helpful but not required. The essential requirement is the ability to accurately interpret, compare, mark up, and approve supplier drawings against established project requirements.
Scope of Authority
The Technical Project Manager may approve supplier drawings when they fully comply with documented project requirements and established approval procedures.
Any substitution, material change, dimensional deviation, specification exception, or unresolved conflict must be documented and escalated to the appropriate internal decision-maker. The contractor is not expected to provide licensed architectural or engineering services or approve changes requiring a licensed professional.
Working Schedule
This role follows a hybrid remote schedule designed to support suppliers in Asia and projects in North America.
The regular schedule will include:
- Daytime availability in the Philippines for supplier coordination.
- Scheduled evening overlap with the North American team.
- Approximately 40 working hours per week.
- A mutually agreed schedule with appropriate breaks between working periods.
- Occasional schedule adjustments for important meetings, production deadlines, or urgent project issues.
The exact working hours and required North American time-zone overlap will be confirmed during the interview.
Contractor Arrangement
This is an independent-contractor engagement rather than an employee position.
The contractor will:
- Be responsible for their own taxes, government contributions, insurance, equipment, internet service, and home-office expenses.
- Provide services remotely using their own suitable workspace and equipment.
- Invoice the company according to the agreed payment schedule.
- Receive the agreed contractor fee without employee benefits unless a particular benefit is expressly included in the written contractor agreement.
- Be evaluated based on deliverables, accuracy, responsiveness, and compliance with agreed project procedures.
The final agreement will define the scope of services, payment terms, schedule expectations, confidentiality obligations, and termination provisions.
What Success Looks Like
Within the first 90 days, the successful contractor should be able to:
- Understand our products, project requirements, and document-control procedures.
- Independently compare supplier line drawings against project drawings and specifications.
- Identify missing, conflicting, or noncompliant information before an order enters production.
- Produce clear drawing markups and correction requests.
- Maintain accurate records of approvals, revisions, orders, production status, and shipments.
- Provide reliable status reports without requiring frequent reminders.
- Prevent costly mistakes by ensuring that approved, ordered, produced, and shipped items match project requirements.
