Tekla Structures Modeller/Detailer

We're an Australian steel fabricator bringing Tekla Structures fully in-house, and we're looking for a detailer who can own entire projects — from the first model through fabrication detailing to installation GAs. Not a CAD operator working off redlines. A detailer who can be handed a set of engineer's design drawings and deliver a complete, workshop-ready drawing package.

ABOUT US

We are a multi-discipline fabrication and engineering company in Queensland, Australia servicing major mining operations. We do structural steel fabrication, CNC machining, plasma and waterjet profile cutting, and industrial coatings — all in-house. Your drawings won't disappear into an inbox: they go straight to our own workshop floor, get fabricated, coated, and installed on operating mine sites. You'll get real feedback from the boilermakers building your work, and you'll see photos of your structures standing on site.

THE ROLE

Twelve months in, you'll be independently running structural packages: modelling, connection detailing, shop drawings, and erection documentation, with minimal supervision.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Build Tekla models from engineers' design drawings — structural steel including PFC/UB/UC sections, plate work, platforms, stairs, handrails, and mining infrastructure
• Detail connections suited to practical fabrication and site erection
• Produce full fabrication drawing packages: assembly drawings, part drawings, and marking plans
• Produce installation / erection general arrangements (GAs) for site crews
• Generate bolt lists, material take-offs, and BOM reports
• Export NC/DXF files for our CNC plasma and waterjet cutting
• Manage revisions, respond to workshop queries, and keep a clean drawing register

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Required:

• Genuine proficiency in Tekla Structures — ability matters more to us than years of experience, but you must be able to demonstrate it
• Able to carry a project end-to-end: model, fabrication detailing, and installation GAs, without hand-holding
• You detail for the workshop, not just the screen — you think about weld access, fit-up, transport, and coating when you model
• Good written English and reliable communication

Preferred (not dealbreakers):

• Experience detailing to Australian standards (AS 4100, AS/NZS 5131, AS 1101.3 welding symbols) — or the ability to pick up our standards quickly
• Experience with mining or industrial structures (platforms, access steel, conveyor or chute work)
