Concrete Estimator / Quantity Surveyor

Water Built is an Australian concrete and early works subcontractor based in South East Queensland. We tender concrete packages to head contractors — structural formwork, reinforcement, place and finish, slabs, pavements and civil works — and we are looking for an estimator to take over the measurement side of that work.

WHAT THE ROLE IS

You measure. We price. You will not be asked to build rates, source suppliers or price materials — we apply our own rate library to your quantities. Your job is to produce quantities we can trust without re-measuring.

Typical work:

• Quantity takeoffs from tender drawings: concrete volume (m3), formwork face area (m2), reinforcement tonnage (t), finishes and pavements
• Working inside our Bluebeam Revu tool set, which we provide, so every takeoff is measured the same way every time
• Filling out our standard takeoff template in Excel
• Flagging drawing ambiguities, conflicts and missing information as RFIs before they become pricing errors
• Recording assumptions clearly so anyone can follow how a number was reached

Volume is steady. Tenders come in most weeks and we respond to all of them.

WHAT WE NEED

• Demonstrated concrete and structural takeoff experience: formwork, reinforcement and in-situ concrete specifically. Multi-trade generalists are not the right fit
• Confident reading structural and civil drawings, including reo schedules and section details
• Measurement experience in Bluebeam Revu, PlanSwift, CostX or similar. If you are strong in another package we will train you on our Bluebeam tool set
• Genuine attention to detail. We would rather have a correct number a day later than a fast number that is wrong
• Clear written English. You will be drafting RFIs and assumption notes that go to head contractors
• Overlap with Brisbane business hours (AEST, UTC+10)

Site experience as an engineer or supervisor is a strong advantage. Understanding why formwork gets stripped and re-erected, or why a pour break changes the number, matters more to us than software fluency.

Australian project experience is helpful but not essential. Our template and tool set are the standard you will work to, so we can bridge the gap on local conventions.

HOW WE HIRE

We start everyone with one paid trial takeoff on a job we have already measured, so we can compare your quantities against known-correct numbers. It is paid at your normal rate regardless of outcome.

This is intended to become a long-term, full-time role for the right person, working as part of our team with a Water Built email address and full software licences provided.
