About the Role

Long-Form YouTube Video Editor (Faceless Channels)

We're looking for a video editor to join us long-term editing faceless, long-form YouTube content. Our videos cover war and military history, documentaries, explainers, mystery and unsolved stories — narrated content with no on-camera presenter.

This is not short-form work. We are not looking for someone who edits TikToks and Reels. Our videos range from 12 minutes to full-length documentaries of up to an hour, and they live or die on whether the viewer stays past the first minute.

What you'll be doing

Editing narrated long-form videos from a script and a voiceover track
Sourcing and cutting archival footage, stock clips, maps, photos and B-roll that match the narration beat by beat
Building retention: strong hooks, pattern interrupts, pacing changes, and cuts that never let the video sit still
Sound design — this matters a lot to us. Ambience, impacts, risers, subtle SFX under the narration, and music that shifts with the story
Simple motion graphics: text overlays, lower thirds, map animations, highlights and callouts
Color and audio cleanup so the final file is ready to upload

Our stance on AI

We use AI sparingly, mostly for filler or transitional shots when no real footage exists. The backbone of every video should be real archival and stock material. If your reel is mostly AI-generated clips stitched together, we're not the right fit.

What we need from you

Proven experience editing long-form faceless YouTube content (please show it)
Strong command of Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve. CapCut is fine for quick turnarounds, but it cannot be your only tool
A real feel for pacing and audience retention — you understand why a cut happens where it happens, not just how
Good taste in sound design and music selection
Comfortable finding your own footage and reference material
Reliable communication in written English
Able to hit deadlines consistently

Nice to have

Motion graphics and map animation skills
Interest in history, geopolitics or documentary storytelling

Details

Volume: 2 to 3 videos per week, depending on length and complexity
Pay: $600 per month, paid monthly
Full time, 40 hours per week
Long-term position — we want someone who grows with the channel, not a one-off gig
You'll get scripts, voiceovers and a style guide. We'll give clear feedback and revisions

How to apply

Start your application with the word BLACKBOX so we know you read this.

Then send us:

Links to 2–3 long-form faceless videos you edited. Tell us exactly what you did on each one.
Pick one of those videos and explain, in a few sentences, one specific editing decision you made to keep viewers watching — and why it worked.
Your available hours per week and your rate.

Applications without the codeword or without work samples will not be reviewed.
