Full-Time Short-Form Video Editor | Direct Hire | Long-Term Position
Confidential employer
Compensation: $200–$250 USD per week to start
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week
Location: Remote
Position: Direct hire — individual applicants only
About the Position
We are looking for a talented full-time video editor to work directly with us and become a long-term part of our team.
Our goal is simple:
We provide the raw footage. You turn it into polished, engaging, ready-to-post content.
We produce content for both a growing service business and a personal/business brand. Our videos cover entrepreneurship, leadership, business, education, behind-the-scenes content, our team, and the services our company provides.
Most of our content will be short-form videos for:
Instagram Reels
Facebook Reels
TikTok
YouTube Shorts
LinkedIn
Other social platforms
We also plan to increase our longer-form video content over time.
DIRECT HIRE ONLY — PLEASE READ
This is extremely important.
We want to hire and work directly with the person who will actually be editing our videos.
Please DO NOT apply if:
You are an agency
You represent a team of editors
You intend to subcontract the work
You intend to outsource any of our editing
Someone else will actually be completing the editing
You are looking to manage the account while another person performs the work
The person who applies, interviews, and completes our editing test must be the same person who will be working with us and editing our content.
We will be working very closely together.
Over time, we expect our editor to learn our brands, personalities, editing preferences, content style, and what we like and don't like.
Our goal is to develop a relationship where we can eventually provide raw footage and trust you to know how to turn it into a great finished video without needing detailed instructions every time.
We are looking for a long-term team member, not a freelancer for a few projects.
Your Primary Responsibility
This is a VIDEO EDITING position.
It is NOT primarily:
Social media management
Virtual assistance
Graphic design
Administrative work
Content scheduling
Those skills are fine to have, but they are not why we are hiring you.
Your strongest skill should be video editing.
If video editing is simply one of many different services you provide, this probably isn't the right position.
What You'll Be Doing
Your responsibilities will include:
Taking raw footage and turning it into finished short-form videos
Editing videos typically between 30–90 seconds
Finding the strongest opening/hook
Removing dead space, mistakes, repetition, and unnecessary content
Improving pacing and viewer retention
Creating clean, professional captions
Adding punch-ins, zooms, movement, and transitions where appropriate
Adding B-roll when it improves the story
Adding music and sound effects when appropriate
Cleaning up and balancing audio
Performing basic color correction
Formatting content correctly for vertical 9:16 social platforms
Following established branding and editing standards
Organizing project files and completed videos
Making revisions when necessary
Eventually reviewing longer recordings and identifying multiple strong short-form clips on your own
We do NOT want every video filled with effects, animations, emojis, or unnecessary transitions.
Our style should feel clean, modern, professional, natural, and engaging.
Good editing should improve the content without making the editing itself the focus.
What We're Looking For
We want someone who:
Has demonstrated short-form video editing ability
Understands modern Reels, Shorts, and TikTok editing
Understands hooks and viewer retention
Has excellent pacing
Can recognize the strongest parts of raw footage
Has good creative judgment
Can follow an established editing style
Can eventually work without detailed instructions on every video
Communicates clearly
Is dependable
Meets deadlines
Is organized
Responds well to feedback
Wants to continuously improve
You should be comfortable working with software such as:
CapCut
Adobe Premiere Pro
DaVinci Resolve
Or comparable professional editing software
We care significantly more about the quality of your work than degrees, certifications, or how many years you've been editing.
What Success Looks Like
Initially, we expect to work closely together while you learn our preferred editing style.
As you become familiar with our content, we expect the amount of direction required to decrease.
Eventually, we want the workflow to be:
We record → upload raw footage → you edit → finished content is ready for review.
A successful editor in this position will consistently produce:
High-quality videos
Strong pacing
Clean editing
Fast turnaround
Consistent branding
Few unnecessary revisions
Reliable communication
Compensation
Starting compensation will be $200–$250 USD per week, depending on demonstrated editing ability and experience.
This is a full-time position.
This is also intended to be a long-term relationship with room to grow.
As your skills, responsibilities, speed, independence, and value to our team increase, there will be opportunities for increased compensation.
We're willing to pay more as the relationship grows.
What matters to us is finding the right person.
How to Apply
Please follow these instructions carefully.
At the very beginning of your application, write:
ORANGE VIDEO
Applications that do not include this may not be reviewed.
Then send us:
A short introduction about yourself.
Links to 3–5 of the best short-form videos YOU personally edited.
Briefly explain exactly what you did on those videos.
Tell us which editing software you primarily use.
Tell us about your experience editing talking-head, business, educational, or personal-brand content.
Tell us whether you currently work for other clients or employers.
Confirm that you personally will perform all editing work and will not subcontract or outsource our videos.
Confirm that you are interested in a full-time, long-term position.
Tell us your expected weekly compensation in USD.
Please do not send dozens of portfolio links.
We would rather see your 3 best videos than 30 average ones.
Paid Editing Test
Candidates who appear to be a strong fit will be invited to complete a paid editing test using our actual raw footage.
Multiple candidates may receive the same footage so that we can compare editing ability fairly.
We will pay candidates who are selected to complete the test.
We're not looking for the person who writes the best application or has the most impressive résumé.
We're looking for the person who can take our raw footage and consistently turn it into excellent content.
If you're an excellent editor looking for a stable, long-term position where you can work closely with a growing company and become an important part of our content operation, we'd like to hear from you.
