Social Media Content Specialist
Confidential employer
Virtual Colleague, under the Shoutout Digital Group, is looking for a Social Media Content Specialist to support one of our established Australian ecommerce clients.
We're looking for someone who really understands what good social content looks like today.
This role is less about how many years you've worked in social media and much more about the quality of work you can actually create. If you have a strong portfolio of Reels, TikToks, carousels and social edits that feel current, engaging and made for the platform, we'd love to see it.
You'll work closely with the client's Creative Lead, who will provide the overall creative direction. Your role is to bring that direction to life through strong editing and day-to-day social execution, while keeping the content calendar, publishing, community and creator coordination running smoothly.
What you'll be doing
- Edit Reels, TikToks and other short-form social content from raw footage and UGC
- Create engaging edits with strong hooks, pacing, typography, captions, transitions and audio
- Repurpose content and create variations for different social platforms
- Keep up with current social trends, editing styles and platform behaviour
- Schedule and publish approved content and keep the content calendar organised
- Make sure posts are formatted, tagged and published correctly
- Respond to comments and DMs in the brand's tone of voice
- Flag customer concerns or sensitive enquiries when needed
- Coordinate with UGC creators, including outreach, follow-ups and tracking deliverables
- Work closely with the Creative Lead and follow established brand direction
What we're looking for
- A strong portfolio of current social-first work. This is the most important part of your application.
- Hands-on experience editing Reels, TikToks and other short-form videos
- A good understanding of hooks, pacing, typography, audio and what keeps people watching
- Experience creating or working with social carousels
- Comfortable with tools such as CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Canva or similar
- Experience scheduling and publishing social media content
- Good written (Australian) English and confidence responding to comments and DMs
- Organised, reliable and comfortable managing several moving pieces independently
- Someone who keeps up with social media rather than relying on what worked a few years ago
We're open to candidates from fashion, beauty, lifestyle, ecommerce, interiors, homewares and other visually led brands.
You don't need 5 or 10 years of social media experience. We'd much rather see a smaller body of genuinely strong, current work than years of experience producing traditional or primarily static social content.
Working Hours
This is a full-time remote role supporting a client based in Queensland, Australia.
The general working schedule will be:
Monday - Friday
12:00 PM – 8:00 PM AEST (Queensland)
10:00 AM – 6:00 PM Philippine Time
There is some flexibility around the schedule, but you'll need to be available during the client's evening social media window. The brand typically posts around 7:00 PM AEST (5:00 PM PHT), so being online around this time is important for engaging with the community, responding to comments and making sure published content is running smoothly.
Any flexibility around your exact working hours can be discussed during the interview.
Why join us?
At Virtual Colleague, we work with Australian businesses that value long-term relationships, trust and great people.
You'll have clear creative direction and support, while still having plenty of opportunity to use your own skills and social media knowledge. We're looking for someone who enjoys the creative side of social, takes pride in what they publish and wants to grow with a team long-term.
How to Apply
If this sounds like your kind of role, we'd love to see your work.
Please apply through our application form:

Please make sure your application includes a portfolio or links to your best social media work, particularly Reels, TikToks, carousels and short-form video edits. Your portfolio will be one of the main things we use when shortlisting.

Please note that we will only review applications submitted through the application form. Applications or follow-up messages sent through OnlineJobs.ph will not be included in the shortlisting process.
