QS/Estimator Bid Manager

I need a driven, commercial professional who can handle our end-to-end tendering process. In this remote role, you will combine traditional quantity surveying and cost estimation with bid management and proposal writing. You will be the driving force behind winning profitable work for our company while protecting our financial margins.

Estimating & Quantity Surveying
Price Tenders: Prepare accurate cost estimates for our handrail, balustrade, and civil works projects.
Take-offs: Extract precise material quantities from drawings, specifications, and BOQs.
Procurement: Source and negotiate competitive rates with our suppliers and subcontractors.
Cost Planning: Analyze project risks, overheads, and margins to build robust cost models.
Review Specs: Interpret complex tender documents, contracts, and technical specifications.
Data Management: Maintain and update our cost databases to ensure ongoing pricing accuracy.
Bid Management
Own the Lifecycle: Manage our bids from initial qualification to final submission.
Team Coordination: Gather and organize technical, HSEQ, and design input for submissions.
Strategy: Develop tailored win strategies and strong value propositions for our clients.
Proposal Writing: Write, edit, and format clear, persuasive tender responses.
Timeline Control: Keep us on track to meet strict deadlines with fully compliant bids.
Client Relations: Act as our primary point of contact for clients during the tender phase.
Handovers: Lead post-tender negotiations and ensure smooth project handovers to our operations team.
Commercial & Reporting
Pipeline Tracking: Monitor our win rates and pipeline metrics to report directly to me.
Contract Support: Assist our Commercial Manager with contract negotiations and term reviews.
Process Growth: Continuously improve our internal estimating tools, templates, and processes.
Must-Haves
Industry Experience: Proven background in structural steel, metalwork, or civil construction.
Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in take-offs, cost planning, and tender pricing.
Software: Hands-on experience with estimating software (like CostX or Buildsoft) and MS Excel.
Communication: Exceptional written skills to craft clear, persuasive proposals.
Organization: Ability to handle multiple tight bidding deadlines calmly and efficiently.
Nice-to-Haves
Qualifications: A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or Civil Engineering.
Standards: Familiarity with Australian standards and contracts (such as AS4000).
Network: Existing relationships with civil subcontractors and suppliers.
