Media Buyer & Conversion Specialist (Google Ads + Meta) | NZ Agency
Confidential employer
We're a small marketing agency in New Zealand. We do marketing for financial advisers, mostly mortgage and insurance advisers and KiwiSaver specialists. We're looking for someone to help run the ad accounts (with our overseeing) so we can focus on growing the business).
*What you'd actually be doing*
Taking over the day to day of our client accounts across Meta, Google and Bing.
We set the strategy and the budgets, and we sign off anything significant. Past that, the accounts are yours. You decide what runs, what gets paused, where the money moves, and which keywords are wasting it.
The other half of the job is what happens after the click. Our funnels and landing pages are built in GoHighLevel, and you'd be reviewing and improving them. Form flow, drop-off, question order, layout, load speed. There's not much point winning the auction if the page loses the lead.
Please read this bit before applying:
Nearly half of what we manage is search rather than social, and search is where we need you strongest.
We see a lot of applications from Meta specialists who have picked up a bit of Google along the way. There's nothing wrong with that, but it isn't this job. If your search experience is "I've run some campaigns", please save us both the time. We do test this properly, and there's no clever way to talk your way around a search terms report.
*What we need*
- 3+ years running paid campaigns with real budgets. Agency-side ideally, since you'd be moving between clients here
- Real Meta Ads Manager experience and real Google Ads search experience. Both of them, not one and a bit of the other
Lead generation rather than ecommerce. We're not selling products, we're getting people to pick up the phone, and the levers are different
- GoHighLevel, or another CRM and funnel builder you picked up quickly
- Good written English. You'll be documenting every change you make and you'll be in our Slack every day
- Online 7am to 11am Manila time. We're based in New Zealand and need to be able to communicate during business hours.
Nice to have but not required: financial services, mortgage or insurance advertising. GA4 and Tag Manager. Any landing page testing background. Meta or Google certifications.
*What we're like to work for*
Our clients are licensed financial advisers, which means there are real legal rules about what their ads can say. So anything a consumer will read, ad copy, headlines, anything mentioning rates, comes to us first. Everything else you just get on with.
Every change gets logged with the date and the reason you made it. That's the one thing we're strict about. It's how we stay out of your way without losing track of what's happening.
If something breaks or a cost per lead jumps, tell us the same day. Nobody here gets in trouble for bad news arriving early.
You'll always know what you're aiming for, because every client has a target cost per lead written down.
This is part-time and long-term, a direct contract with us. No agency in the middle taking a cut. Paid every fortnight through Wise on the 15th and the 30th. We've never paid anyone late and we don't intend to start with you.
*How to apply*
Please don't send a template. We read every application and we can spot one from the first line.
Tell us about an account you took over that wasn't working. What was wrong with it, what you did, what happened to the numbers afterwards. Under 250 words, and use real numbers rather than "improved significantly"
Tell us honestly whether you're stronger on Meta or on Google search, and why.
Your CV or profile, any certifications, and the hourly rate you're looking for in USD
Start your message with the word ORCHARD so we know you got this far
If you're shortlisted we'll send you a real account to look at. It takes about 90 minutes and we pay you your rate for it, because your time is worth something before you work here as well as after.
Then a video call. We're hoping to have someone chosen by mid September.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
