About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced After Effects specialist to help create polished, visually compelling YouTube documentaries covering mysteries, unexplained events, strange history, and darker subjects.

This will begin as paid project-based work. For the right editor, it can definitely grow into a consistent part-time or full-time position.

This is not a basic stock-footage editing role. We need someone who can build original documentary sequences inside After Effects, including:

  • Animated maps and location sequences
  • Archival photographs with parallax and camera movement
  • Timelines, documents, diagrams, and visual explanations
  • Silhouettes and tasteful recreations
  • Masking, compositing, and visual effects
  • Clean, restrained typography
  • Professional transitions and serious sound design

You should have:

  • Advanced After Effects skills
  • Strong documentary storytelling instincts
  • Excellent composition and visual-design ability
  • Experience creating original motion graphics
  • Reliable communication and deadline management
  • Organized, fully editable project files

We do not use AI-generated images, video, voices, or other AI-created assets. You must be comfortable working with authentic photographs, footage, maps, documents, and properly sourced visual material.

We provide completed narration, scripts, reference material, and clear creative direction.

Selected applicants will be offered the same short paid editing test. Strong performance can lead to regular documentary assignments and a permanent part-time or full-time role.

To apply, please send:

1. Your two strongest and most relevant samples
2. Specific timestamps showing your best After Effects work
3. A brief explanation of what you personally created in those sequences
4. The software you used
5. Your estimated turnaround time for a polished 60-second documentary sequence
6. Your current availability
7. Confirmation that you can deliver organized, editable project files without AI-generated assets

Begin your application with:

Please do not send only a generic showreel or unrelated short-form social-media work. We want to see sequences demonstrating animation, composition, visual storytelling, and attention to detail.
