Website QA & Remediation Specialist (WordPress / Elementor)
Find it. Fix it. Prove it's fixed
About the Role
Eden Digital manages SEO, content, and web operations for a portfolio of client websites — healthcare and behavioral-health practices, home-service companies, and local businesses. We run structured, audit-driven workflows: every site gets crawled, proofread, and technically audited, and the output is a prioritized findings list (CSV/GitHub issues) with exact quotes, URLs, and suggested fixes.
Your job has two halves: FIND the issues and FIX them — carefully, verifiably, and without breaking anything.
Sometimes we hand you a completed audit and you work the list down to zero. Just as often, you are the audit: you take a client site cold, sweep it end-to-end (copy, links, technical SEO, brand/design conformance), build the findings list yourself, and then remediate it. This is not a design role and not a dev-from-scratch role. It is a precision QA + remediation role: you detect an issue ("this FAQ answer is pasted from the wrong page," "this button dials the wrong number," "this section's background color is off-brand," "this link 404s on 49 pages"), document it, and fix it at the right level — page, template, or global — then prove it's fixed.
What You'll Fix (real examples from our audits)
Copy errors at scale: typos ("therpay"), grammar ("at it's roots"), wrong credentials in author boxes, sitewide footer typos — fixed once at the template level where possible, or via careful WP-CLI search-replace across Elementor JSON data. You can use AI to help you correct these issues, they just need to get done!
Wrong-page content: FAQ answers pasted under the wrong question, sections copied from another service page, a team bio describing a different company, lorem ipsum and writer instructions left live
Factual drift: program hours, durations, phone numbers, service claims that contradict the client's canonical fact sheet — every instance verified against the brand repository before editing
Broken links and redirects: internal 404s, malformed hrefs, nav/footer links that pass through redirect chains, dead outbound citations
Technical SEO cleanup: duplicate meta-description emitters, missing metas and H1s, broken JSON-LD schema, sitemap hygiene (dead URLs, duplicates, noindex conflicts), image alt text
Design and brand corrections: wrong background colors, off-brand section styling, spacing and contrast issues, text below our 16px minimum, mobile responsiveness defects — corrected against each client's documented brand guide without redesigning anything
Accessibility basics: contrast, alt text, focus states, readable font sizes
Responsibilities
Finding (QA / auditing):
Run full-site QA sweeps on assigned client sites: crawl every page (sitemap + link discovery), proofread copy word-by-word, test all internal/external links, and check titles, metas, H1s, canonicals, schema, and sitemap hygiene
Verify site copy against each client's canonical fact sheet in our brand repository (services, hours, phone numbers, credentials, service-area claims) and flag every contradiction
Do visual/brand conformance passes against each client's documented brand guide: background and section colors, typography, spacing, contrast, minimum text size, mobile rendering
Compile findings into our standard format (severity, URL, exact quote/screenshot, issue, suggested fix) in CSV/GitHub/Notion — organized so template-level fixes are identified as one item, not fifty
Fixing (remediation):
Work prioritized findings lists (yours or ours) and close items in fix-order: template-level one-shot fixes first, then page-level edits
D ---------- the correct fix level — global template/theme, Elementor template, reusable widget, or individual page — so one edit fixes every instance
Execute bulk copy corrections safely: staging first, full backup, WP-CLI wp search-replace with dry runs, aware that Elementor stores content as JSON-escaped strings in postmeta
Verify every fix on the live page (fresh, uncached) and mark it done with a before/after note; regenerate Elementor CSS and purge caches as needed
Flag judgment calls instead of guessing — e.g., when a "wrong" fact might describe the industry generically rather than the client, or when two pages contradict each other and the client must d ---------- which is true
Never alter established brand elements (colors, typography, photography) except to restore them to the documented standard
Maintain redirect maps and update internal links at the source rather than stacking redirects
Log all work in our systems (GitHub, Notion) with clear, reviewable change notes
Required Skills & Experience
3+ years hands-on WordPress experience, including deep Elementor fluency: global templates vs. page-level widgets, theme builder parts (header/footer), reusable sections, custom CSS placement, CSS regeneration
Comfortable with WP-CLI (search-replace with dry-run, db export) and staging → production workflows; understands serialized/JSON data risks in bulk replacements
Working knowledge of technical SEO: meta tags, canonicals, robots directives, XML sitemaps, JSON-LD schema (able to find and fix a parse error), Rank Math or Yoast
Solid HTML/CSS (able to trace which stylesheet or widget sets a background color and override it in the right place, not with !important patches)
Meticulous written English — you catch typos other people miss, and your change notes are precise
Able to run site audits independently with tools like Screaming Frog, Sitebulb, or equivalent scripts — link status, metadata, crawl comparison — and turn raw output into a clean, prioritized findings list
Process discipline: backups before bulk edits, dry runs, verification, documentation — every time
Strongly Preferred
Experience with healthcare, behavioral-health, or other YMYL websites (accuracy and compliance sensitivity; adults-only service boundaries; no invented clinical claims)
Familiarity with GitHub-based content workflows (branches, PRs, review comments)
Experience with call tracking (CallTrackingMetrics) and GA4 — enough to know why replacing a tracked phone number with an untracked one is a serious error
Comfort using AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT) to accelerate QA passes — paired with the judgment to verify everything before publishing
Basic accessibility (WCAG) literacy
Cloudflare / caching stack familiarity (knowing the difference between "fixed" and "fixed but cached")
What Success Looks Like
30 days: the current backlog's template-level and high-severity items are closed and verified; zero regressions
60 days: full findings list for the first site closed; you've completed your first cold-start audit of a second site (found the issues yourself) and built a reusable audit + fix-verification checklist
90 days: you run the full find-and-fix cycle across multiple client sites independently, catch issues before clients report them, and flag client-decision items with clear framing
What We Are NOT Looking For
Redesigners — the brands' colors, typography, and photography are fixed; your job includes restoring them, not reinventing them
"It works on my machine" fixers — every fix is verified on the live, uncached page
Bulk find-replace cowboys — anyone who runs a production-wide search-replace without a dry run and backup is an immediate mismatch
Hiring Process
Application with 2–3 short examples of QA/remediation work you've done (before/after screenshots or descriptions are fine)
Paid trial task (~2 hrs): we give you a staging site with ~10 seeded errors from the categories above. You find them, document them in our findings format, fix what's safe, flag what needs a decision, and note anything you couldn't fix and why
Contract start with a real, prioritized findings list from day one
