About the Role

We are seeking a highly competent, meticulous tax accountant with direct experience in Puerto Rico Act 60 applications, compliance and tax planning. The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting skills with the ability to research, interpret and correctly apply Puerto Rico and federal tax law.

This is not a basic tax-preparation position. We need a detail-oriented professional capable of taking ownership of a complex tax situation, identifying lawful tax-saving opportunities and ensuring every application, return and supporting document is accurate, complete and defensible.

Responsibilities
Evaluate eligibility for applicable Puerto Rico Act 60 incentives.
Prepare and manage the Act 60 application process from initial document collection through approval.
Identify continuing residency, reporting, recordkeeping and decree-compliance requirements.
Prepare or review Puerto Rico and U.S. federal income-tax returns.
Maximize lawful deductions, credits, exclusions and other available tax benefits.
Analyze income sourcing, residency, business-structure and cross-jurisdictional tax issues.
Research relevant statutes, regulations, administrative guidance and case law.
Provide written recommendations supported by authoritative citations.
Maintain detailed workpapers, filing records, compliance calendars and supporting documentation.
Identify inconsistencies, missing information and potential audit exposure before submission.
Model alternative tax strategies and explain their financial and legal consequences.
Coordinate with tax attorneys or other specialists when an issue falls outside the accountant’s professional scope.
Respond promptly to government notices, information requests and compliance questions.
