Architect/Designer

We are a California-based design-build and construction company seeking a highly experienced Architectural Designer to join our team full-time and long-term.

This is not an entry-level drafting position. We need someone who can independently prepare accurate, permit-ready residential construction documents for projects throughout California, especially the San Francisco Bay Area.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare complete architectural plan sets for residential projects
• Work on ADUs, additions, remodels, new homes and multi-unit projects
• Review existing plans, surveys and consultant drawings
• Coordinate architectural plans with structural, civil, MEP and Title 24 consultants
• Prepare plans for planning and building department submissions
• Respond to city plan-check comments and revise drawings correctly
• Review zoning requirements, setbacks, height limits, FAR and lot coverage
• Identify code or design conflicts before submission
• Communicate clearly with our project managers, designers and consultants
• Maintain organized project files and meet deadlines

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of professional architectural design experience
• Proven experience preparing California residential permit sets
• Strong knowledge of the California Residential Code, California Building Code and local planning requirements
• Experience with Bay Area jurisdictions is strongly preferred
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD
• Experience with Revit, SketchUp and 3D rendering is a major advantage
• Ability to read and coordinate architectural, structural, civil and MEP plans
• Strong written and spoken English
• Excellent attention to detail
• Reliable, organized and able to work independently
• Comfortable working during agreed hours that overlap with California business hours
