Architect/Designer

We are a California-based design-build and construction company seeking a highly experienced Architectural Designer to join our team full-time and long-term.
This is not an entry-level drafting position. We need someone who can independently prepare accurate, permit-ready residential construction documents for projects throughout California, especially the San Francisco Bay Area.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare complete architectural plan sets for residential projects
- Work on ADUs, additions, remodels, new homes and multi-unit projects
- Review existing plans, surveys and consultant drawings
- Coordinate architectural plans with structural, civil, MEP and Title 24 consultants
- Prepare plans for planning and building department submissions
- Respond to city plan-check comments and revise drawings correctly
- Review zoning requirements, setbacks, height limits, FAR and lot coverage
- Identify code or design conflicts before submission
- Communicate clearly with our project managers, designers and consultants
- Maintain organized project files and meet deadlines
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of professional architectural design experience
- Proven experience preparing California residential permit sets
- Strong knowledge of the California Residential Code, California Building Code and local planning requirements
- Experience with Bay Area jurisdictions is strongly preferred
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD
- Experience with Revit, SketchUp and 3D rendering is a major advantage
- Ability to read and coordinate architectural, structural, civil and MEP plans
- Strong written and spoken English
- Excellent attention to detail
- Reliable, organized and able to work independently
- Comfortable working during agreed hours that overlap with California business hours
