Position overview
We are a growing Melbourne-based digital marketing agency hiring a Senior Google Ads Strategist to lead strategy and take full operational ownership of nine active Australian client accounts.

Our portfolio focuses on professional services and allied health, including psychologists, physiotherapists, lawyers, dentists, mortgage brokers, executive coaches and buyers advocates. These are lead-generation accounts where success means qualified calls, booked consultations, viable cases and new clients or patients, not traffic or vanity metrics.

You will lead Google Ads strategy and execution across the portfolio from day one. You will independently determine how each account should be structured, optimised, measured and improved, then personally implement the work.

Initially, the agency owner will retain primary responsibility for client relationships and lead client meetings. You will provide the strategic recommendations, account analysis and talking points that inform those conversations. As you demonstrate strong strategic judgement and communication, there is a genuine path into direct client leadership and a PPC Lead position.

You will complete a structured handover covering each account’s objectives, campaign structure, budgets, conversion actions, performance history, active tests, known risks and immediate next actions.

Why this role is worth your time
You will step into an established portfolio with documented account history, clear client context and organised account notes.

You will also receive:
-A full-time, long-term remote position.
-Complete strategic and operational ownership of nine active Australian accounts managing approximately US$12,500 per -month in combined ad spend.
-Direct communication with the agency owner, with no unnecessary management layers.
-Genuine autonomy to make and implement strategic decisions.
-Clear performance expectations and accountability from day one.
-All required tools and access from day one.
-A formal performance and compensation review after 60 to 90 days.
-A quarterly performance bonus tied to account retention, tracking integrity and lead-quality outcomes. Details will be discussed with the successful candidate.
-A genuine progression path into client-facing leadership and broader paid-media team leadership.

What you will own

Strategy and account direction
-Take full strategic and operational ownership of all nine Google Ads accounts.
-Review each client’s commercial goals, services, locations, budgets, historical performance, lead quality and conversion journey.
-Develop and document a clear strategy for each account, including what should be tested, why it matters and how success will be measured.
-Translate commercial goals into campaign structures, targeting decisions, bidding approaches, budgets and testing priorities.
-Challenge weak assumptions and recommend a different direction when the evidence supports it.
-Identify where campaign structure, targeting, messaging, measurement or landing pages are limiting qualified-lead performance.
-Prioritise qualified enquiries, calls, consultation bookings, viable cases and new clients or patients rather than lead volume alone.
-Document major strategic decisions and the commercial reasoning behind them.

Campaign management and optimisation
-Personally build, manage and optimise Search, Performance Max, remarketing and relevant Display campaigns.
-Structure Performance Max campaigns for lead generation, including asset groups, audience signals, search themes and appropriate budget separation.
-Conduct ongoing search-term reviews and maintain accurate negative-keyword coverage.
-Manage keywords, match types, audiences, locations, schedules, devices, creative assets and exclusions.
-Apply smart bidding with independent judgement and understand when automation needs stronger controls or better data.
-Monitor budget pacing across all nine accounts and identify overdelivery, underdelivery and performance anomalies before they become client problems.
-Maintain strong account hygiene and document significant changes, tests and outcomes.

Conversion tracking and data quality
-Audit conversion tracking across Google Ads, GA4, Google Tag Manager, website forms, phone calls and call-tracking platforms where applicable.
-Implement or validate enhanced conversions for leads where appropriate.
-Confirm primary and secondary conversion actions are correctly configured.
-Ensure bidding strategies optimise toward meaningful business outcomes rather than weak or misleading conversion actions.
-Detect duplicate, missing, inflated or misleading conversion data.
-Investigate tracking quality rather than assuming the data is correct because conversions appear in the account.
-Explain measurement issues, their commercial impact and the correct resolution.
-Coordinate technical implementation with developers or the agency owner when required.
-You are not expected to be a full-time analytics engineer. You must be capable of independently diagnosing measurement problems and directing the right resolution.

Lead quality and commercial performance
-Evaluate performance beyond cost per lead by assessing lead relevance, intent and commercial value.
-Identify campaigns, keywords, search terms, locations or offers generating poor-quality enquiries and act on them.
-Recommend improvements to targeting, messaging, forms, landing pages and conversion definitions.
-Understand that professional-services and allied-health leads behave differently. Consultations, appointments, viable legal cases and high-value enquiries require different strategies and qualification standards.
-Connect campaign decisions to commercially relevant outcomes.
-Escalate material risks early with a clear diagnosis and recommended response.

Ad messaging and landing-page recommendations
-Develop or coordinate clear, relevant advertising messages and assets aligned with each client’s services, audience and location.
-Recognise advertising restrictions affecting legal, healthcare and financial-services clients, and flag potential compliance risks.
-Identify landing-page problems affecting relevance, trust, conversion rate or lead quality.
-Provide clear recommendations and coordinate improvements with the appropriate team member.
-You will not be expected to design or build landing pages yourself.

Reporting and communication
-Build and maintain client-ready reports in Looker Studio or an equivalent platform.
-Provide accurate data, plain-English analysis and commercially relevant recommendations.
-Explain what changed, why it changed, what the result was and what should happen next.
-Give the agency owner concise strategic talking points before client meetings.
-Maintain clear updates on performance, budgets, risks, active tests and unresolved blockers.
-Attend one internal weekly performance review, with other updates handled asynchronously.
-Never produce reports that merely list platform metrics without interpretation or a recommended action.

Portfolio and workload
You will own nine active Australian client accounts across professional services and allied health, managing approximately US$12,500 per month in combined ad spend.

The portfolio includes:
Psychology and allied health
Legal services
Dentistry
Physiotherapy
Mortgage broking
Executive and high-performance coaching
Buyers advocacy

These are lead-generation accounts. Performance is judged through qualified calls, enquiries, consultation bookings, appointments, viable cases and new clients or patients, not impressions, clicks or raw lead volume.

Your first 14 days
Within your first two weeks, you will be expected to complete:

-An initial tracking audit across all nine accounts, with primary conversions confirmed and duplication, inflation or missing measurement identified.
-An account triage summary covering current performance, known risks, budget pacing and immediate priorities for each account.
-An initial 90-day strategy, testing and optimisation roadmap identifying the highest-priority improvements and measurement needs across the portfolio.
-A budget-pacing overview confirming which accounts are on track and which require immediate action.
-Clear documentation of unresolved issues that need technical support or agency-owner input.

These deliverables are designed to assess your strategic judgement, ability to prioritise and working style. They are not a requirement to rebuild nine accounts within two weeks.

What success looks like after 60 to 90 days
-You independently lead strategy and manage day-to-day execution across all nine accounts without daily supervision.
-Every account has clear commercial goals, a documented strategy, current performance status, active tests and known risks.
-Strategic decisions are proactive and evidence-led rather than reactive or dependent on agency-owner instructions.
-Budgets
