Senior Meta and TikTok Media Buyer
Confidential employer
Second Screen Digital is a Los Angeles-based performance marketing agency looking for an experienced Paid Social Media Buyer who is equally comfortable developing high-level strategy and handling the technical details required to make campaigns work.
This is a remote position, but you must be available to work consistent U.S. business hours and collaborate with our team and clients during the Pacific Time workday.
We need someone who can do more than launch ads and report on ROAS. You should understand the full paid social ecosystem—from campaign structure, creative testing, and budget allocation to UTMs, pixel implementation, event tracking, attribution, catalog troubleshooting, and quality control.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys finding opportunities for growth but is also willing to dig into the less glamorous work behind the scenes. Sometimes the problem is the strategy. Sometimes it’s a broken event, an incorrect UTM, or a product catalog having a bad day. You should be comfortable diagnosing all of it.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and execute paid social strategies across Meta and TikTok
- Build, launch, manage, and optimize campaigns based on each client’s objectives
- Manage e-commerce and lead-generation accounts with varying budgets and levels of complexity
- Create thoughtful campaign structures that support testing, scaling, and accurate reporting
- Develop testing roadmaps for audiences, offers, messaging, formats, landing pages, and creative concepts
- Analyze performance beyond surface-level platform metrics to identify what is actually driving results
- Make strategic decisions about budget allocation, scaling, consolidation, and account structure
- Translate performance data into clear, actionable recommendations for clients and internal teams
- Collaborate with creative strategists, designers, editors, account managers, and other media buyers
- Provide clear creative feedback based on performance trends and audience behavior
- Monitor pacing, spend, efficiency, tracking accuracy, and campaign health
- Identify performance issues early and take ownership of solving them
- Stay current on platform changes, new ad formats, measurement updates, and paid social best practices
Tracking and Technical Responsibilities
You must be fully comfortable owning the technical details of paid social advertising, including:
- Creating and maintaining accurate UTM structures
- Installing, reviewing, and troubleshooting Meta Pixels and TikTok Pixels
- Setting up and validating standard and custom conversion events
- Working with Meta Conversions API and TikTok Events API
- Testing events using platform diagnostic and event-testing tools
- Reviewing event prioritization, deduplication, match quality, and attribution settings
- Using Google Tag Manager and GA4 to support campaign tracking and reporting
- Troubleshooting discrepancies between ad platforms, Shopify, GA4, Triple Whale, and other attribution tools
- Setting up and troubleshooting product catalogs, feeds, and dynamic product ads
- Conducting detailed pre-launch quality-control checks
- Documenting tracking setups, campaign structures, tests, and account changes
- Diagnosing technical issues instead of immediately assuming poor performance is a creative or audience problem
What We’re Looking For
- At least 3–5 years of hands-on paid social media buying experience
- Strong experience managing both Meta Ads and TikTok Ads
- Demonstrated success managing and scaling e-commerce campaigns
- Experience with lead-generation campaigns is a plus
- Strong knowledge of campaign architecture, testing methodology, attribution, and performance analysis
- Hands-on experience with pixels, conversion events, UTMs, product feeds, and server-side tracking
- Working knowledge of Shopify, Google Analytics 4, and Google Tag Manager
- Experience with attribution platforms such as Triple Whale is a plus
- Ability to distinguish between a creative problem, an offer problem, a landing-page problem, a tracking problem, and a media-buying problem
- Strong analytical skills and confidence working with large amounts of performance data
- Excellent attention to detail, particularly during setup and quality control
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities
- A proactive, solution-oriented mindset
- Willingness to take ownership of both strategy and execution
- Reliable availability during U.S. business hours, with regular overlap during Pacific Time
- Ability to attend scheduled team meetings and respond to time-sensitive client or campaign needs during the U.S. workday
You’ll Be a Strong Fit If You
- Can explain not only what happened in an account, but why it happened and what should happen next
- Know when to follow platform best practices and when the data supports a different approach
- Enjoy developing strategy but do not consider tracking, naming conventions, documentation, or QA “someone else’s job”
- Can turn performance data into useful feedback for a creative team
- Catch small errors before they become expensive ones
- Communicate concerns early and arrive with potential solutions
- Are comfortable being accountable for results without pretending every outcome is fully within the ad platform
- Approach media buying with curiosity, discipline, and sound judgment
- Work well with a distributed, international team while maintaining consistent U.S. working hours
What Success Looks Like
- Campaigns are launched accurately, on time, and without preventable tracking or setup errors
- Client budgets are managed responsibly and paced appropriately
- Testing is structured around clear hypotheses rather than random changes
- Performance insights lead to better creative, stronger landing pages, and smarter account decisions
- Reporting is accurate, meaningful, and connected to the client’s business goals
- Account issues are identified and resolved proactively
- Clients and internal team members understand what is working, what is not, and what we are doing next
About Second Screen Digital
Second Screen Digital is a Los Angeles-based performance marketing agency supporting growing brands through paid media, creative strategy, email marketing, SEO, and web design. Although our team works remotely, our clients and core operations are based in the United States. Team members in this role must maintain reliable availability during U.S. business hours and collaborate regularly with colleagues working in Pacific Time.
We value integrity, excellence, clear communication, thoughtful problem-solving, and people who take genuine ownership of their work.
This is not a role for someone who wants to press a few buttons, check the dashboard, and call it media buying. We are looking for someone who understands how strategy, creative, tracking, attribution, and execution work together—and is comfortable owning the details that make strong performance possible.
