CIVIL / GENERAL CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATOR – U.S. PROJECTS

Granite State Business Holdings (GSBH) is looking for experienced CIVIL / GENERAL CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATORS to support our growing Estimating & Preconstruction team.

We support multiple U.S.-based construction companies and are looking for estimators who can confidently review plans and specifications, perform detailed quantity takeoffs, develop cost estimates, and help prepare accurate and competitive bids.

Our priority is finding candidates with strong CIVIL ESTIMATING experience. However, candidates who also have broader GENERAL CONSTRUCTION estimating experience are highly preferred, as our projects may involve different trades and scopes.

* EXPERIENCE ESTIMATING U.S.-BASED CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS IS HIGHLY PREFERRED. *

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

Review construction drawings, specifications, addenda, and bid documents
Perform detailed and accurate quantity takeoffs
Prepare construction cost estimates and bid worksheets
Estimate civil scopes such as sitework, earthwork, excavation, utilities, drainage, paving, concrete, and related work
Estimate additional general construction trades based on your experience
Determine material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor requirements
Review plans for missing scope, discrepancies, constructability concerns, and potential estimating risks
Review addenda and incorporate revisions into estimates
Identify missing or unclear information that may require an RFI
Gather and compare vendor, supplier, and subcontractor pricing
Review quotations for pricing and scope completeness
Look for opportunities to obtain better and more competitive pricing
Clearly document estimate assumptions, inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications
Maintain organized takeoffs, quotes, estimates, and project files
Support additional estimating and preconstruction tasks as needed

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for someone who can do MORE THAN JUST QUANTITY TAKEOFFS.

A strong candidate should be comfortable taking ownership of an estimating assignment and working independently with minimal supervision.

You should be able to:

Review plans and specifications and understand the overall project scope
Determine what needs to be included in the estimate
Perform accurate and organized quantity takeoffs
Understand how the work will be constructed in the field
Determine appropriate materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor needs
Identify missing information, discrepancies, and unclear requirements
Ask the right questions when additional information is needed
Research pricing when necessary
Produce a clear and organized estimate that is ready for review
Manage deadlines and communicate progress or concerns proactively

You DO NOT need to be an expert in every construction trade.

Our priority is strong CIVIL ESTIMATING experience, but candidates with broader GENERAL CONSTRUCTION estimating experience will have an advantage.

We are especially interested in estimators who are ACCURATE, DEPENDABLE, RESOURCEFUL, and comfortable working independently while communicating well with the rest of the team.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

At least 2 years of construction estimating experience
Strong civil construction estimating experience
Experience performing quantity takeoffs from construction drawings and specifications
Ability to read and understand civil, grading, utility, drainage, site development, and construction plans
Good understanding of construction materials, labor, equipment, and methods
Ability to independently develop estimates from plans and specifications
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
Experience with construction takeoff or estimating software
Good written and spoken English
Ability to manage deadlines and multiple estimating assignments
Reliable and comfortable working independently in a remote environment

HIGHLY PREFERRED

Experience estimating U.S.-BASED CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS
Experience with both CIVIL AND GENERAL CONSTRUCTION estimating
Experience working with U.S. contractors or subcontractors
Experience with commercial, municipal, industrial, infrastructure, or site-development projects
Experience estimating multiple construction trades
Experience with Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar takeoff/estimating software
Experience gathering and comparing vendor and subcontractor quotations
Familiarity with U.S. construction drawings, specifications, terminology, materials, and bidding practices
Experience identifying potential value-engineering or cost-saving opportunities

You will not necessarily be expected to estimate every scope listed above. Assignments will be matched as much as possible with your experience and capabilities.
