Remote Bookkeeper for US Based Real Estate Team
Full Time: 40 Hours a Week | Virtual Assistant
Join Stadium District Flats, a real estate investment team overseeing a growing portfolio of 70+ units and active residential development projects.
We are looking for a Remote Bookkeeper to support the Finance & Accounting Lead with bookkeeping, financial recordkeeping, reconciliations, AP/AR, and financial reporting. The role will help maintain accurate records and provide timely financial information to support long-term growth.
10-Year Goal
Support the company’s goal of building a $100M real estate portfolio and finance team capable of managing increasing Assets Under Management (AUM).
Responsibilities:
Maintain accurate and organized financial transaction records.
Record and categorize transactions in QuickBooks Online.
Handle Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, including timely invoice payments and revenue collections.
Manage vendor and customer accounts and keep balances and records accurate and up to date.
Reconcile bank statements, credit cards, loan accounts, and other financial documents.
Collaborate with the Finance & Accounting Lead and Property Management Team on monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closing activities.
Assist with budget preparation, budget tracking, and Budget vs. Actual reporting.
Assist with weekly Finance Team KPIs and scorecards.
Assist with annual 1099 preparation.
Track management fees, owner billings, and intercompany transactions.
Maintain vendor records, tenant accounts, and financial documentation.
Assist in preparing financial reports, schedules, and supporting documentation for the CPA, Owner, lenders, investors, and management.
Assist with quarterly financial reviews, accounting policies, internal controls, process improvements, and workflow automation.
Maintain complete and accurate records in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Leverage AI tools to improve accounting processes and efficiency.
Maintain confidentiality and security of financial records and company information.
Identify discrepancies, recommend corrective actions, and escalate significant issues to the Finance & Accounting Lead.
Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years of experience in US bookkeeping or accounting.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
Proven experience maintaining accurate financial records and preparing financial statements.
Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and taxation.
Proficiency in QuickBooks Online.
Strong attention to detail, organization, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
Ability to work under pressure, adapt to changing environments, and meet deadlines.
Familiarity with financial regulations, compliance, and reporting requirements.
Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills and confident personality.
Comfortable working with a remote team and different U.S. time zones.
Ability to work closely with the Finance & Accounting Lead and company leadership, receive feedback, and follow instructions effectively.
Training & Compensation
Base Rate: $4.50/hour during the training phase. Candidates must successfully complete the Bookkeeping Tier Training Program (Tier 1–4). Upon successful completion of Tier 4 Certification, the hourly rate will increase by 10% to $5.00/hour.
Work Expectations & Transparency
Schedule & Availability: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM U.S. Eastern Time (ET).
Exclusive Work Hours: This role requires full dedication during scheduled work hours. Team members must remain fully present and engaged. Working another job, operating a separate business, or performing unrelated paid or volunteer work during these hours is strictly prohibited.
Time Tracking & Productivity: This role requires time tracking and productivity software (Hubstaff or equivalent) for work hours, billing, and performance visibility, including activity levels and periodic screenshots while the timer is running. This supports transparency, accountability, accurate pay, and productivity.
Independent Business: This is an independent contractor position. The contractor is responsible for their own equipment and workspace, applicable taxes and insurance. The position does not include employee benefits.
