HVAC Engineer / Draftsperson / Estimator

We are a U.S. HVAC contractor seeking a talented HVAC engineer, draftsperson, and estimator for residential and commercial HVAC projects.
This position will begin part-time at approximately 20 hours per week. We expect it to develop into a full-time position for the right person as our workload grows.
All working hours must be during U.S. Central Time business hours. The exact schedule will be agreed upon with the selected applicant. The employee must be online, available, and responsive to our team while working.
Responsibilities include:
- Performing Manual J load calculations
- Selecting and sizing HVAC equipment
- Designing and sizing duct systems
- Creating HVAC plans, duct layouts, shop drawings, and as-built drawings
- Reading architectural, mechanical, and construction drawings
- Identifying HVAC equipment, ductwork, fittings, dampers, grilles, registers, diffusers, line sets, drains, insulation, controls, and accessories
- Completing detailed material and equipment takeoffs
- Preparing bills of materials and estimating spreadsheets
- Calculating material quantities, equipment costs, labor costs, and project pricing
- Reviewing vendor takeoffs and quotations for mistakes or missing materials
- Identifying conflicts, discrepancies, and missing information in drawings
- Preparing RFIs and coordinating revisions
- Assisting with duct-fabrication drawings and piece-numbered ductwork packages
Applicants must have strong HVAC knowledge and must be capable of producing accurate, professional drawings. Experience with U.S. HVAC systems and U.S. construction drawings is required.
Applicants should understand ACCA Manual J, Manual D, ASHRAE and SMACNA standards, duct construction, airflow, static pressure, HVAC equipment, fittings, insulation, and installation requirements.
Experience should include several of the following:
- AutoCAD or Revit
- Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or comparable takeoff software
- Wrightsoft, Cool Calc, Elite RHVAC, or comparable load-calculation software
- Excel or Google Sheets
- HVAC estimating and material pricing
