Locum Tenens & Nursing Credentialing Specialist

Job Summary

The Credentialing Specialist is responsible for managing the end-to-end credentialing and compliance process for healthcare providers, with a strong focus on Locum Tenens and Nursing. This role ensures providers meet all required credentialing, licensing, regulatory, and client-specific requirements prior to placement and throughout their assignments.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the full-desk credentialing process from initial provider onboarding through final clearance.

Perform end-to-end credentialing and compliance for Locum Tenens and Nursing professionals.

Collect, verify, and maintain provider documentation, including licenses, certifications, education, training, work history, and references.

Conduct Primary Source Verification (PSV) and monitor license, certification, and credential expirations.

Coordinate background checks, sanctions checks, NPDB queries, and other required compliance screenings.

Complete and maintain credentialing applications for hospitals, healthcare facilities, and client organizations.

Follow up with providers, licensing boards, facilities, and external organizations to obtain missing or updated documentation.
Ensure credentialing files are accurate, complete, audit-ready, and compliant with client, regulatory, and healthcare industry requirements.

Track credentialing timelines, outstanding items, expirations, and provider clearance status.

Communicate with providers, clients, facilities, and internal teams to resolve credentialing and compliance issues.

Maintain accurate provider records and documentation within credentialing platforms and ATS systems.

Support ongoing recredentialing, license monitoring, and compliance management throughout the provider’s assignment.
