About the Role

About Jess Escalona Media

Jess Escalona Media helps coaches and consultants grow their reach and visibility through podcasting, without the tech overwhelm. We provide calm, systems-led, done-for-you production so our clients can focus on showing up and sharing their voice. Our founder brings 10+ years of experience as an audiobook producer for Big 5 publishers, and that same standard of professionalism runs through everything we deliver.

The Role

We're looking for an Audio Engineer & Quality Control Specialist to own mastering and final quality control on every episode we produce. Right now, every episode passes through our founder's ears before it goes to a client. This role exists to build the trust and standard that lets that step move to you, so we can grow past our current capacity without quality slipping.

We need someone with a trained ear and real technical judgment, someone who can be trusted to be the last line of defense before a client hears their episode.

What You'll Do
Master incoming audio using iZotope RX, FabFilter, and/or Waves plugins to a consistent, professional standard
Deliver finished work as a Reaper session file so your process and decisions are visible and reviewable
Act as a second, independent set of ears on every episode after the editor's first technical pass
Catch and clean up anything missed in the initial edit (artifacts, pacing issues, inconsistent levels, awkward cuts, breath control, etc.)
Apply a documented quality standard consistently, and flag anything outside it rather than guessing
Communicate proactively if something needs a decision or is at risk of missing a deadline
What Success Looks Like
Clients consistently receive polished, professional audio without Jess needing to personally review it
Deliverables are on time, every time
Over time, Jess trusts your judgment as the final check on quality, not just an extra pass

You Might Be a Fit If You
Have hands-on experience mastering audio with iZotope RX, FabFilter, and/or Waves
Are comfortable working in Reaper
Have a trained ear for quality, pacing, and consistency, and notice things other people miss
Take ownership of your work rather than waiting to be told what's wrong
Communicate clearly and proactively
Want to grow with a small business and take on more independent ownership over time

Nice to Have, Not Required
Prior experience with podcast or audiobook production specifically
Experience mentoring or QC-ing another editor's work
Compensation & Structure

$8/hour, 10-20 hours per week -- hoping to grow more.
