About the Role

Design Lighting is a Canada-based lighting company with a team of 11–50 people.

ROLE OVERVIEW
We are looking for a reliable freelance takeoff technician to count lighting fixtures from electrical drawings using Countfire or Bluebeam. This part-time, project-based work will help us address a backlog.

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS
At least 5 years of experience counting lighting fixtures from blueprints.
Countfire/Bluebeam experience.
High attention to detail.
Reliable communication and ability to meet deadlines.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Review lighting plans, legends, schedules, and notes.
Set up lighting symbols and complete fixture counts in Countfire/Bluebeam.
Separate quantities by fixture type, drawing, area, or phase.
Identify unclear symbols, discrepancies, and exclusions.
Perform Countfire’s final accuracy checks.
Export and submit an organized quantity report.
Submit accurate, quality reports.

ENGAGEMENT
Part-time, project-based freelance work, ongoing.
Expected volume: 3-6 lighting takeoffs a month.
Rate per takeoff
CAD 25 to CAD 200

NOTES

Per-project rate.
Typical turnaround time 1-5 days.
Shortlisted applicants may be asked to perform a short paid test.
An NDA will be required before working with project drawings and related information.
