Job Summary
Priority Haulage is seeking a capable, high-capacity, and dependable Transport Operations Officer to support day-to-day operations within a fast-paced, high-accountability environment.
The role reports primarily to the Operations Manager and works closely with the Financial Controller on systems, process improvement, and operational coordination initiatives.
This position is central to maintaining operational continuity across fleet dispatch, driver management, compliance coordination, and transport administration within a structured, performance-driven business focused on operational efficiency, accountability, and scalable systems.
Role Overview
This role is suited to an operations professional who can consistently deliver reliable outcomes with minimal supervision in a deadline-driven environment. Performance will be assessed based on operational consistency, responsiveness, task completion, communication quality, and ability to maintain established workflows and standards.
Availability & Working Hours
This role requires consistent coverage aligned with New Zealand business operations, including early morning dispatch coordination and operational responsiveness throughout the day.
Core Operational Coverage (PHT)
5:00 AM – 1:00 PM: Primary operational window covering fleet dispatch, job loading, driver coordination, and daily operational tasks.
2:00 PM – 5:00 PM: Flexible operational coverage period supporting job closing activities, operational follow-up, and preparation/loading for the following operational cycle as required.
The role is workflow and task-driven, with hours and workload fluctuating depending on job volume, fleet activity, and operational requirements. Compensation is based on actual hours worked.
Final working arrangements and compensation structure will be discussed and agreed with the successful candidate based on operational requirements, workflow demands, and demonstrated capability within the role. The position is expected to require approximately ~25 - 30 hours per week, with baseline workload increasing as operational responsibilities expand.

Required Experience & Capability
Applicants should demonstrate proven experience operating within a structured, deadline-driven transport or logistics environment:
- Minimum 6+ years’ hands-on experience managing high-volume transport dispatch, fleet coordination, and operational workflows.
- Proven experience within transport, logistics, dispatch, or fleet operations environments.
- Strong organisational and commercial judgement, with the ability to manage multiple operational priorities simultaneously.
- Demonstrated experience using Transport Management Systems (TMS), fleet management platforms, dispatch systems, or operational workflow software.
- Ability to operate independently within a remote work environment
- Effective problem-solving capability and operational judgement.
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel capability, including, filtering, sorting, and pivot tables
- A high level of technical proficiency across the Microsoft platform and modern operational business systems, with working familiarity in tools such as:
o Notion
o ChatGPT

- Exposure to New Zealand or Australian transport and logistics environments.
- Exposure to health & safety, driver compliance, and quality control processes.
- Demonstrated ability to improve operational workflows through process optimisation, system improvement, or automation initiatives.
- Exposure to coordinating, supporting, or overseeing operational staff within a structured operations environment.

- Power Backup: Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) or generator ensuring at least 3 hours of operational uptime during outages.
- Internet Backup: Secondary internet connection (e.g., mobile data or alternative wireless) for uninterrupted connectivity.
