Customer Service & Store Operations - eCommerce Australia
Confidential employer
Let me guess how your week has gone.
You've applied to fifteen jobs. Maybe thirty. Every one of them wanted "a highly motivated self-starter with excellent communication skills". And every single one has left you refreshing your inbox with no idea whether anyone even opened it.
I'm not going to do that to you. Here's exactly what the job is, and exactly what happens next.
I'm Justin. I run a home decor store here in Australia, and I'm looking for someone to help me run it.
Right now I do everything myself. Sourcing, suppliers, orders, the website and the phone. Something has to give, and lately it's been the phone. It rings, it goes to voi cemail , customers wait. Sales get missed.
That's the job. You'd be the person who fixes it.
WHY THIS ONE IS DIFFERENT:
We're at the very start of building a proper team, and you'd be one of the first people in it.
That means something real. The way we handle customers, the systems we use, the standards we set - most of that hasn't been d ---------- yet. You'd help d ---------- it. The suggestions you make in month two become the way we do things in month six.
It also means room to grow. As we bring more people on, the person who was here first, who knows how everything works, is the person who steps up. I'm not looking for someone to fill a seat for a year. I'm looking for someone who's still here in five, running things.
WHAT YOU'D ACTUALLY DO:
- Pick up the phone. Answer email s and chat. Chase the enquiries that haven't converted yet.
- Process orders in Shopify and keep suppliers moving
- Update stock levels and catch problems before a customer does
- Keep the website up to date - listings, pricing, images, new products
- Get us posting properly on Instagram, Pinterest and Meta, and help build out email campaigns
WHAT WE NEED:
- Excellent spoken English. You'll be speaking with Australian customers every day, and this is the one we weigh most heavily.
- Real customer service experience. Real customers, real complaints, real problems solved.
- Clear, warm written English
- A quiet workspace, reliable internet with a backup
- Available Monday to Friday, 6:00am – 2:00pm (Philippine Standard Time)
- Attention to detail
ABOUT THOSE HOURS:
Because we're Australian, your day runs 6:00am to 2:00pm Manila time. No graveyard shift. No sleeping through the daylight and waking up as everyone else is heading to bed.
You finish in the early afternoon with most of the day still in front of you. Sunshine. The gym. Your kids after school. Dinner with your family, at dinner time. A serious career shouldn't cost you your evenings, and here it doesn't.
NICE TO HAVE (genuinely optional):
Shopify, Canva, email marketing tools, or experience working in eCommerce. None of these will stop you getting hired. I'd take a brilliant communicator and teach them Shopify over a Shopify expert who can't hold a conversation.
WHAT YOU GET:
- AUD $1,200 per month
- Reviewed every 12 months on performance. Paid leave.
- Actual training - a documented plan and recorded walkthroughs
- A real opportunity to shape how a growing business runs
- Direct access to me. Ask a question, get an answer that day.
- A team that actually enjoys the work. We take the customers seriously and ourselves a lot less so. Expect jokes in the chat, genuine credit when you do something well, and nobody making you feel small for asking a question.
