About the Role

Position Overview
Seeking an experienced Amazon KDP E-Book Research & Publishing Specialist to help build and scale a portfolio of high-quality, problem-solving e-books.
This role goes beyond formatting. You must understand the full KDP publishing process, including market and niche research, keyword and competitor research, book topic validation, titles and subtitles, content research and drafting, editing and proofreading, e-book formatting, cover coordination/design, KDP metadata and upload support, and post-publication performance tracking.
The long-term goal is to build a repeatable system capable of producing approximately 3 short, high-quality e-books per week, with final approval required before publication.
Key Responsibilities
Market Research & Validation

  • Identify customer problems and search intent.
  • Research Amazon keywords and relevant search opportunities.
  • Analyze competing books, pricing, customer reviews, and bestseller rankings where available.
  • Identify weaknesses, customer complaints, gaps, and opportunities to differentiate.
  • For each proposed book, provide the target reader, problem being solved, primary and secondary keywords, suggested title and subtitle, competitor analysis, pricing observations, market gap, recommended positioning, and a GO / TEST / DO NOT PURSUE recommendation.
  • Do not begin full book development until the concept is approved.

Content Development

  • Create the book outline after approval.
  • Conduct credible research and document sources where factual research is used.
  • Draft clear, practical, useful content with examples, frameworks, checklists, questions, or action steps where appropriate.
  • Maintain a professional, easy-to-understand writing style.
  • AI may be used to improve productivity, but raw AI-generated content is not acceptable.
  • All content must be human-reviewed, edited, fact-checked, original, coherent, useful, free from plagiarism, and compliant with Amazon KDP requirements.

Titles, Keywords & Metadata

  • Develop search-friendly, clear, problem-focused titles, subtitles, descriptions, and keywords.
  • Ensure positioning is relevant to customer search intent and differentiated from competing books.
  • The reader should quickly understand who the book is for, what problem it solves, and what outcome it helps provide.

Editing & Quality Control

  • Proofread the full manuscript.
  • Verify facts, links, references, and citations.
  • Remove repetition and check structure, chapter flow, and consistency.
  • Check for plagiarism and review AI-generated material for errors or fabricated information.
  • Never invent facts, statistics, quotations, sources, case studies, credentials, or references.

Formatting, Covers & KDP Publishing

  • Prepare approved manuscripts for Amazon KDP, including professional Kindle formatting, table of contents, front matter, copyright page, author information, and disclaimers where needed.
  • Prepare book descriptions, keywords, categories, pricing research, metadata, cover specifications, and KDP preview/upload materials.
  • Covers must be professional, competitive, readable at thumbnail size, and use properly licensed commercial-use assets.
  • Nothing is published without final approval.

Mandatory AI Expertise and Prompting

  • Strong hands-on experience with Claude and ChatGPT is required.
  • Use AI for research, competitor analysis, keyword development, book outlines, drafting and editing, long-form content development, manuscript review, titles and subtitles, metadata, reusable prompts, and repeatable publishing workflows.
  • Hands-on experience with Claude Projects, structured prompts, reusable instructions, or similar AI workflows is strongly preferred.
  • You must know how to fact-check, improve, and human-review AI-generated material rather than simply submitting raw output.
  • Strong cloud collaboration skills are required, including Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Microsoft 365 or similar tools, shared folders, file organization, version control, research trackers, publishing trackers, and approval workflows.

Ideal Candidate

  • Highly organized, reliable, responsive, and detail-oriented.
  • Comfortable working independently and meeting deadlines.
  • Open to feedback and able to document and improve processes.
  • Capable of building a repeatable publishing system rather than simply completing isolated tasks.

Production Goal

  • Once the workflow is established, the target is approximately 3 short e-books per week.
  • Quality and market validation come before volume.
  • The publishing strategy may include AI, business, technology, productivity, career development, financial awareness, professional education, and other high-demand problem-solving topics identified through market research.

Application Requirements

  • Begin your application with: KDP ASSET BUILDER
  • State how many KDP books you have helped publish.
  • Provide examples or links to published books and explain your specific role.
  • Describe your Amazon keyword and niche research experience.

  • Generic applications will not be considered.

Paid Skills Test

  • Shortlisted candidates may receive a small paid test.
  • The test may require target audience identification, customer problem, keyword opportunities, competitor analysis, 3 title ideas, 3 subtitle ideas, proposed table of contents, recommended positioning, and a GO / TEST / DO NOT PURSUE decision.
  • The purpose is to evaluate research, judgment, KDP knowledge, and AI-enabled workflow skills—not simply AI-generated writing.

Process Documentation

  • Document the publishing workflow so it can be repeated and improved.
  • Maintain reusable prompts, research steps, file/folder conventions, publishing checklists, QA steps, and production trackers.
  • The system should not depend on one person’s memory.

Compliance, Confidentiality & Ownership

  • Understand and follow Amazon KDP requirements related to originality, AI-assisted content, intellectual property, image licensing, and plagiarism.
  • All book ideas, research, manuscripts, prompts, templates, keywords, workflows, strategies, and intellectual property must remain confidential.
  • Work produced and paid for under the engagement will belong to the business, subject to the final written agreement.
