About the Role

Hamsa Law Office PLLC, a Minnesota-based law firm serving immigration, criminal/traffic defense, and family law clients (with a strong focus on the East African community), is seeking an experienced part-time paralegal to support case preparation and filings across a busy solo practice.

Responsibilities:

Prepare and review USCIS forms (I-130, I-485, I-864, G-28, and related petitions)
Assist with criminal and traffic defense matters — organizing discovery, tracking court dates, drafting plea/motion documents
Assist with family law document preparation (dissolution, custody, child support filings)
Draft correspondence to clients, opposing counsel, courts, and government agencies
Organize and track case files, deadlines, and filing checklists across multiple practice areas
Communicate with clients to gather documents and information (English required; Somali/Amharic/Oromo a plus)
Maintain confidentiality and attention to detail on all client matters

Requirements:

Prior paralegal or legal assistant experience; experience with immigration and/or criminal defense filings strongly preferred
Familiarity with USCIS filing procedures and Minnesota court e-filing systems a plus
Strong written English and attention to detail
Comfortable working independently across varied practice areas and meeting deadlines
Reliable internet connection and quiet home workspace
