Motion Designer to Bring Static Card Art to Life (After Effects)
Confidential employer
ABOUT US
HeartStamp is a US greeting card and gifting brand for Millennials and Gen Z
who think traditional cards are generic and emotionally hollow. We make
printed cards and interactive Digital 3D cards. We are small, fast, and
fully remote.
THE ROLE IN ONE SENTENCE
We already make the art. We need someone to make it move.
Our designers create the illustrations, card designs, and art direction.
Your job is to take those finished static assets and turn them into polished
animated pieces for social, website hero panels, and potentially the Digital
3D cards themselves.
You are not expected to concept visuals from scratch. Creative direction and
source assets come to you. You own the motion, and we want you to push the
work further than we asked for.
WHAT YOU WILL ACTUALLY DO
- Animate still images and illustrations: create depth and movement from
flat 2D artwork using parallax, layer separation, camera moves, and 2.5D
- Build seamless loops that never show a jump or a boomerang
- Bring card artwork to life: envelopes opening, confetti, foil shimmer,
paper texture, subtle type animation
- Size and format for Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts (9:16),
in-feed (1:1 and 4:5), and website hero banners (16:9 and wide)
- Web-optimized exports that stay lightweight without losing quality
(MP4, WebM, GIF, and Lottie where it fits)
- Fast variations of pieces that perform, plus seasonal and campaign versions
THE SKILL WE CARE ABOUT MOST
Knowing what should move, and how much.
The best work here is restrained. A card should feel alive, not busy. If you
can look at a still and instantly know which three elements should move and
which twenty should stay perfectly still, you are the person we want. Fun and
current, never overcomplicated.
MUST HAVE
- A reel that shows motion applied to existing static artwork, illustration
or photo based. Kinetic type and template work alone will not get you
shortlisted.
- Strong Adobe After Effects skills: layer separation, parallax rigs,
camera, puppet and mesh warp, masking, clean loop construction
- Photoshop skills to cut a still into layers and rebuild clean backgrounds
behind subjects
- Real sense of timing, pacing, and rhythm for short-form social
- Works independently, communicates clearly in written English, hits
deadlines without chasing
- Reliable internet and power backup, and a machine that handles After
Effects comfortably
NICE TO HAVE
- Lottie, Rive, or other lightweight web-exportable animation
- Adobe Premiere Pro for edits and UGC-style cuts
- Canva for fast resizes and handoff templates
- AI image and video tools in your workflow, and you can explain
specifically how you use them
- Experience with consumer, gifting, beauty, or DTC social brands
HOW WE HIRE
We review applications daily on a rolling basis, so apply early. Finalists
are shortlisted and invited to a paid test assignment covering one website
hero panel and one social media asset. We provide all source art and
direction, and we pay for your time on it whether or not we move forward.
Applications close August 28, 2026.
ENGAGEMENT
- Fully remote, Philippines based
- Part-time contract to start, 20 to 30 hours per week, room to grow
- Mostly async. A few hours of overlap with US Pacific time for handoffs.
HOW TO APPLY
Start your message with the word PARALLAX so we know you read this.
Then send:
1. Your reel or portfolio link, and point us to the exact timestamp where
you animated a static image
2. One short paragraph: pick any single shot in your reel and tell us what
moved, what stayed still, and why you made that call
3. The tools you work in, including any AI tools and how you use them
4. Your hourly rate and how many hours per week you are available
We move fast when we find the right person.
