About the Role

Home Services / Restoration Company | Long-Term Opportunity

Company: Xpress Restoration Inc.
Location: San Diego County, California
Position: Part-Time, with opportunity to grow
Work Type: Remote

About Us

Xpress Restoration Inc. is an established property restoration company serving homeowners and businesses throughout San Diego County.

We specialize in water damage restoration, fire damage restoration, mold remediation, reconstruction, contents/packout services, and related restoration work.

Our crews document our projects extensively with photos, videos, 360-degree scans, and 3D property documentation.

We already have the content. We need the right person to turn it into stories.

We are looking for a creative and dependable Social Media Content Creator & Short-Form Video Editor who can review our existing project photos and videos, identify interesting content opportunities, and turn them into professional social media content that showcases our work and builds trust with our local community.

What You’ll Be Doing

A major part of this position will be reviewing photos and videos from current and past restoration projects.

You will look for opportunities to tell stories such as:

  • Before and after transformations
  • Water damage restoration projects
  • Emergency mitigation work
  • Drying equipment and job-site setups
  • Demolition and restoration progress
  • Reconstruction projects
  • Completed repairs
  • Fire and smoke restoration
  • Mold remediation projects
  • Contents and packout work
  • Customer testimonials
  • Team and behind-the-scenes content
  • Educational homeowner content using real projects

You will then turn those assets into content for platforms such as Instagram, Facebook , TikTok, and YouTube Shorts.

Your Responsibilities

You will help us:

  • Review project photos and videos from our existing job files
  • Identify projects that would make good social media content
  • Select the strongest photos and video clips
  • Create engaging short-form Reels and videos
  • Create before-and-after videos and graphics
  • Create photo carousels and other visual posts
  • Edit customer testimonial videos
  • Add professional text overlays, captions, transitions, music, and branding
  • Write natural, professional social media captions
  • Develop strong hooks for short-form videos
  • Repurpose one project into multiple pieces of content when appropriate
  • Organize selected content so we know what has already been used
  • Help maintain a consistent content calendar
  • Schedule approved content
  • Monitor basic content performance and identify what types of posts are working

Our goal is not to create flashy influencer content.

We want clean, professional, authentic content that shows real work, demonstrates our expertise, and helps homeowners trust our company.

Systems We Use

Our project documentation may come from:

  • DASH by Next Gear Solutions
  • DocuSketch
  • Matterport
  • Google Drive or other shared folders

Experience with DASH, DocuSketch, or Matterport is not required.

We can teach you how we use these systems.

Experience with the following is preferred:

  • CapCut
  • Canva
  • Meta Business Suite
  • Instagram Reels
  • Facebook
  • TikTok
  • YouTube Shorts
  • Google Drive
  • ChatGPT or similar AI tools for content assistance

Other professional video editing software is welcome.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is both creative and self-directed.

Eventually, we do not want to have to tell you:

“Use these five pictures and make this exact Reel.”

We want someone who can review a completed project and recognize:

“This would make a great before-and-after video.”

Then take the initiative to develop the idea.

The ideal person:

  • Has strong short-form video editing skills
  • Has a good eye for visual storytelling
  • Understands pacing, hooks, text overlays, and music
  • Can turn ordinary job-site photos into interesting content
  • Understands before-and-after storytelling
  • Writes strong English captions
  • Can follow brand guidelines
  • Is organized and dependable
  • Can work independently after learning our business
  • Is comfortable receiving feedback and making revisions
  • Understands that quality and trust are more important than chasing viral views
  • Wants a long-term opportunity with a growing company

Experience creating content for home services, construction, restoration, remodeling, real estate, roofing, plumbing, HVAC, cleaning, or other local service businesses is a major plus.

Privacy and Professionalism

Our project systems contain private customer and property information.

The person selected for this position must take confidentiality seriously.

Customer names, addresses, insurance information, claim information, internal notes, personal documents, and other private information must never be included in public-facing content unless specifically authorized.

We will provide guidelines regarding what information may and may not be used.

Schedule

We expect to begin part-time, approximately 10 to 20 hours per week.

We care more about consistent, high-quality output than simply logging hours.

For the right person, this position has the opportunity to grow in hours and responsibility over time.

Compensation

Compensation will depend on experience, portfolio quality, editing ability, and the level of independence you can bring to the position.

We plan to begin finalists with a small paid trial project before making a longer-term commitment.

If the relationship works well, our goal is to develop a consistent, long-term working relationship.

How to Apply

Please send us the following:

1. A short introduction about yourself.
2. A link to your portfolio.
3. Three examples of short-form videos or Reels that YOU personally edited.
4. If available, send an example where you took raw photos or videos and turned them into finished social media content.
5. Tell us which editing programs you use regularly.
6. Tell us approximately how long it normally takes you to create a professional 20 to 45-second Reel when the photos and video clips are already provided.
7. Tell us about any experience you have creating content for home-service companies, contractors, real estate, construction, or similar businesses.
8. Tell us your desired hourly rate in USD and how many hours per week you are currently available.

Important Application Instruction

Please begin your application with the words:

“I FOUND THE STORY”

Then, in 2 to 3 sentences, tell us what you think makes a good before-and-after Reel interesting to someone who does not already follow the company.

Applications that do not include this will not be prioritized.

Paid Trial

Candidates who appear to be a strong fit may be invited to complete a small paid trial.

We will provide real photos and/or video from one of our restoration projects.

The trial may involve:

  • Reviewing the provided project content
  • Creating one short-form Reel
  • Writing the accompanying caption
  • Explaining briefly why you chose that particular approach

We are not looking for perfection.

We want to see your creativity, editing ability, judgment, storytelling, communication, and ability to work with real-world content.

If you’re someone who enjoys taking a folder full of ordinary project photos and turning it into content that makes people stop and say, “Wow, look at that transformation,” we’d like to hear from you.
