POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced Philippines-based U.S. Accounting Specialist / Senior Bookkeeper to support a U.S. trucking and logistics operation.
This is not a general virtual-assistant position. We need someone capable of taking substantial ownership of day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting while communicating effectively with management and U.S. accounting/tax professionals.
Location: Philippines - Remote
Employment: Full-time
Compensation: $1,200 - $1,600 per month, depending on experience and demonstrated skill.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain accurate books in QuickBooks Online.
- Perform bank and credit-card reconciliations.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Prepare and track customer invoices.
- Record and reconcile vendor payments.
- Assist with payroll accounting and reconciliations.
- Post appropriate journal entries.
- Perform month-end closing procedures.
- Prepare P&L statements and balance sheets.
- Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation.
- Track expenses by company, truck, customer, or appropriate category.
- Handle trucking/logistics accounting involving fuel, maintenance, factoring, driver/carrier settlements and fleet expenses.
- Identify discrepancies and proactively report accounting issues.
- Coordinate with U.S.-based CPA/tax professionals when necessary.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of professional bookkeeping/accounting experience preferred.
- Experience supporting U.S. businesses.
- Strong QuickBooks Online skills.
- Strong knowledge of AP, AR, reconciliations and month-end close.
- Ability to prepare and understand financial statements.
- Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Reliable internet and professional remote-work environment.
- Ability to overlap part of the workday with U.S. Eastern Time.
PREFERRED
- Trucking, transportation, freight brokerage or logistics accounting experience.
- Factoring reconciliation experience.
- Experience with fleet expenses, fuel and maintenance.
- Driver/carrier settlement experience.
- Experience working with U.S. CPAs/accounting firms.
