About the Role

About the project

We are looking for an experienced Squarespace web designer to rebuild the website for Kelly's Olympian — a historic bar and live music venue in downtown Portland, Oregon, established in 1902. The current site is functional but outdated and needs a full refresh that reflects the venue's brand, drives event ticket sales, and captures visitor email addresses.

This is a focused, well-defined project with clear deliverables. We are not looking for someone to learn on the job — we need someone who has done this before, specifically for a restaurant or hospitality business.

---

What you'll be building

  • Full Squarespace website redesign — clean, mobile-first, on-brand
  • Homepage refresh — venue story, atmosphere, upcoming shows
  • Events / shows page — integrated with Eventbrite or Squarespace scheduling
  • Updated food and cocktail menu page — photo-friendly layout
  • Email signup form on every page — connected to Mailchimp
  • Private events / buyout inquiry page — with a contact form
  • About / history page — the venue's 120+ year story deserves to shine
  • SEO basics — page titles, meta descriptions, Google Business integration
  • Mobile audit and optimization across all pages

---

Requirements

  • Proven experience building Squarespace websites — portfolio required
  • At least one example of a restaurant, bar, café, or hospitality website you have built
  • Comfortable with Squarespace's native blocks, sections, and fluid engine
  • Able to integrate Mailchimp email signup with Squarespace
  • Basic SEO knowledge — meta titles, descriptions, image alt text
  • Strong eye for clean, minimal design — not flashy, not generic
  • Able to deliver a complete project within 1 week
  • Reliable communication and able to meet tight deadlines
  • Proficient in English — written communication with the project lead (US-based)

---

Nice to have

  • Experience with live music venues, event-driven businesses, or hospitality brands
  • Eventbrite or ticketing platform integration experience
  • Basic photography editing or image optimization skills
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics or Search Console setup

---

Compensation

$150 – $300 (one-time project rate, based on experience)
Timeline: 1 week from project start to final delivery
Potential for ongoing work if the relationship is a good fit.
