Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Engineer / Land Surveyor to support our residential housing and civil engineering projects across Ireland.

The successful candidate will be responsible for processing land and point elevation survey data, creating contour surveys, preparing GPS machine-control files for excavators, and producing setting-out and as-built files for residential developments, roads, services, and foundations.
This role will work closely with architects, engineers, site teams, and project management to ensure accurate survey information is prepared and available for construction and project submission requirements.
The position may be offered on a full-time or part-time basis, depending on the candidate’s experience, availability, and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Survey Data & Contour Surveys

• Receive and review point elevation survey data from site.
• Create accurate contour surveys from received survey information.
• Process survey data for use in residential construction and civil engineering projects.
• Review survey information for accuracy and identify any discrepancies or missing information.
• Prepare files and drawings in the required formats for use by site and construction teams.

GPS Machine-Control Files

• Create GPS files for excavators and other site machinery.
• Prepare machine-control files showing required excavation levels and elevations.
• Generate files for foundations, roads, services, and other earthworks.
• Ensure GPS files accurately reflect the approved design and required construction levels.
• Coordinate with site teams to clarify requirements and make adjustments where necessary.

Setting-Out & Site Plans

• Review architects’ site plans and coordinate information.
• Use site coordinates to prepare setting-out files.
• Create files showing the locations of house corners and building positions.
• Prepare setting-out information for boundary fence lines, footpaths, roads, and other site features.
• Ensure coordinates and setting-out information are accurate and suitable for site use.

As-Built Surveys & Irish Water Submissions

• Receive and review as-built surveys from site.
• Process as-built survey information against approved designs and site requirements.
• Create accurate as-built files for completed works.
• Prepare files and documentation required for submission to Irish Water.
• Identify discrepancies between design information and completed works and raise these with the relevant team members.

General Project Support

• Maintain organised digital survey files and project records.
• Work closely with architects, engineers, site managers, and project teams.
• Provide technical support and survey-related information as required.
• Ensure survey files are clearly named, organised, and maintained for future reference.
• Work independently and meet project deadlines in a remote working environment.

Requirements

Essential

• Relevant experience as an Engineer, Land Surveyor, Civil Engineer, or similar role.
• Experience working with point elevation survey data.
• Experience creating contour surveys.
• Experience preparing GPS/machine-control files for excavators.
• Strong understanding of construction levels, coordinates, and setting-out.
• Experience interpreting architects’ site plans and coordinate information.
• Experience preparing setting-out files for residential developments.
• Experience with as-built surveys and documentation.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
• Strong communication and coordination skills.

Desirable

• Experience with roads, drainage, foundations, and site services.
• Experience working with construction GPS/machine-control systems.
• Proficiency with relevant surveying, CAD, or civil engineering software.
