About the Role

I’m looking for a reliable part-time YouTube video editor to help create long-form videos for a growing history YouTube channel.

Our videos are created using Vidrush, which automatically creates the initial video using the script, voiceover and visuals.

However, Vidrush does not always select the correct footage. It can sometimes use inaccurate, unrelated, repetitive or poorly matched visuals.

Your main responsibility will be to check the footage throughout the video and make sure it accurately matches the narration.

The Most Important Skill: Research

Fast and accurate research is the most important skill for this position.

Because this is a history channel, using the correct footage is extremely important for maintaining the trust of our audience.

You may need to find specific historical footage or images that are difficult to locate. You need to be able to research quickly, find suitable material, and determine whether it actually matches what is being discussed.

You may need to check:

  • Ships
  • People
  • Locations
  • Historical events
  • Dates and time periods
  • Uniforms and equipment
  • Historical photographs and film footage

If Vidrush selects the wrong footage, you will need to research and find a better replacement. Sometimes this will require creativity and finding alternative ways to visually represent something when the exact footage is difficult to find.

Important: Historical Accuracy & AI Images

You must be able to recognise AI-generated images and footage.

We do not want AI-generated images to be presented as genuine historical photographs or footage.

If Vidrush or an online search produces an AI-generated historical image, you should recognise it and find a genuine historical source or another appropriate visual instead.

our Responsibilities

  • Use Vidrushto work with the automatically created video.
  • Check the footage throughout the entire video.
  • Make sure visuals accurately match the narration.
  • Research and find better historical footage and images when necessary.
  • Replace incorrect, unrelated, repetitive or poor-quality visuals.
  • Avoid using AI-generated images as historical material.
  • Be creative when the exact footage is difficult to find.
  • Improve pacing and visuals where needed.
  • Complete a final quality check before delivery.

Requirements

  • Excellent and fast research skills — this is the most important requirement.
  • Basic video editing skills.
  • Strong interest in or understanding of history.
  • Ability to identify incorrect or poorly matched historical footage.
  • Previous Vidrush experience is a big advantage.
  • If you haven't used Vidrush before, you must be comfortable learning it quickly.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Reliable, organised and able to work independently.
  • Comfortable using Zoom for occasional online meetings and training sessions.

Working Together

At the beginning, we will have some Zoom meetings to go through the workflow, processes and expectations together so that everything is set up properly.

There may also be occasional Zoom meetings later when we need to explain a new process, make improvements to the workflow, or discuss any questions.

These will not be constant meetings — the main work is independent — but you should be comfortable communicating and working with me through Zoom when needed.

Position & Pay

  • Part-time: 4 hours per day (can increase to full time after trial or stay as part time- up to you)
  • Monday–Friday (but you can choose to work some weekends instead, up to you)
  • 20 hours per week

Starting rate: $3 USD/hour

The first 2 weeks will be a paid trial period.

During the trial period, payment will be made weekly via Wise.

After the trial period, if your work meets the required standards and expectations, the rate will increase to $4 USD/hour.

There is also potential for further increases over time based on performance and reliability.

How to Apply:

Please send:

1. Examples of your previous YouTube editing work.
2. A short description of your editing and research experience.
3. Whether you have used Vidrush before.
4. Your availability.
5. Confirmation that you are comfortable starting at $3/hour during the two-week paid trial, with the rate increasing to $4/hour after the trial if the work meets expectations.
6. A short example of how you would research and find difficult historical footage.

Please include the words "Admiral Nimitz” in your application so I know you have read the description.
