Travel Video Editor for YouTube & TikTok

I’m looking for a talented and reliable Video Editor to help me edit my YouTube vlogs and turn the longer videos into engaging short-form content for TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts.

I’m a beauty industry professional and educator, and I’ll be taking several exciting trips over the next year for my job and for personal travel. I’ll be filming a lot of vlog-style content throughout these trips, so I’m looking for someone who can take my raw footage and turn it into polished, entertaining videos.

What you’ll be doing

YouTube videos:

• Edit raw vlog footage into engaging YouTube videos
• Create a natural story and flow from lots of different clips
• Cut out unnecessary footage, pauses and mistakes.
• Add music, sound effects and transitions where appropriate
• Add clean, modern fonts/text on screen
• Add captions/subtitles where appropriate
• Add location names, map pins or other visual elements when relevant
• Create an overall polished, fun and professional look
• Help with pacing so the videos aren't boring or unnecessarily long
• Colour correction/basic colour grading and audio balancing

Short-form content:

• Take the long-form YouTube footage and identify the best moments for TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts
• Create engaging vertical videos
• Add captions, text and appropriate effects
• Make the content feel native to TikTok/Reels rather than simply cropping the YouTube video
• Suggest potential clips/hooks that could work well as short-form content

The type of editor I'm looking for:

I don't want someone who simply cuts clips together. I want someone who has a good eye for storytelling and understands what makes content interesting to watch.

You should be:

• Creative and have a strong sense of visual style
• Good at storytelling and pacing
• Familiar with YouTube, TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts (i will ask for evidence)
• Comfortable editing vlog/travel/lifestyle content
• Good at choosing music and knowing when NOT to over-edit
• Able to create clean and professional text/caption graphics
• Detail-oriented
• Reliable and able to meet deadlines
• Comfortable working independently without needing constant instructions
• Open to feedback and able to learn my preferred editing style over time

Software

Please let me know what editing software you use. I’m open to Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, CapCut or similar, as long as you can produce a high-quality finished result.

Important

Please send examples of YouTube videos and short-form content you have personally edited. I particularly want to see vlog, travel, lifestyle or talking-to-camera content rather than only highly scripted promotional videos.

I will also ask shortlisted applicants to complete a small paid trial edit using some of my footage. This will help me find someone whose editing style is the right fit.

Ongoing work
This could become an ongoing position for the right person. I have multiple trips planned over the next year, as well as other content I will be creating, so I would ideally like to build a long-term working relationship with someone reliable.
