About the Role

Short-Form Content Producer & Growth Specialist — Books

Part-time | Remote, Philippines | 20 hours per week | ?25,000–?40,000 per month

About us

We are an established UK independent publisher with more than 50 books across children’s, teen, educational, activity, curiosity, humour and gifting categories.

We are developing a short-form content engine for TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts. Our content will use book covers, manuscript extracts, facts, illustrations, animation, stock footage, AI-generated assets and occasional hands-only footage.

The strategy does not depend on an author appearing on camera.

The role

We are looking for someone who can combine content strategy, hook writing, video editing, publishing and performance analysis.

You will turn material from our books into entertaining, useful and highly shareable short-form videos. You will test different hooks and formats, analyse results and develop repeatable content systems for selected brands.

This is not a scheduling-only social-media role. You must be able to create the videos yourself and explain why each concept should work.

Your responsibilities

  • Review books, chapters, illustrations and research materials
  • Develop platform-native TikTok, Reels and Shorts concepts
  • Write hooks, short scripts, captions and calls to action
  • Produce and edit short-form videos
  • Create videos using covers, illustrations, typography, motion, stock footage and AI-generated assets
  • Adapt approved content without misrepresenting the books
  • Maintain a content calendar
  • Publish or prepare content for publication
  • Test multiple hooks and creative treatments
  • Maintain an organised library of footage, templates and finished videos
  • Track retention, completion rate, saves, shares, comments and clicks
  • Produce a monthly report explaining what worked, what failed and what should be tested next
  • Develop repeatable formats rather than creating every video from scratch
  • Repurpose successful concepts across TikTok, Reels and Shorts
  • Follow child-safety, copyright and platform-content requirements

Required experience and skills

  • A strong portfolio of short-form videos you personally produced
  • Experience with TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts
  • Strong editing skills in CapCut, Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or similar
  • Hook writing and short-form storytelling
  • Understanding of retention, pacing and pattern interruption
  • Ability to use analytics to improve future content
  • Experience with AI-assisted image or video creation
  • Good visual and typographic judgement
  • Excellent written English
  • Ability to work from supplied assets without requiring the founder to film constantly
  • Strong organisation and file-management habits
  • Reliable internet connection and remote-working environment

Desirable experience

  • BookTok, publishing or educational content
  • Children’s, teen or parent-facing brands
  • Curiosity, facts, humour or edutainment content
  • Motion graphics and animation
  • Amazon Attribution or social-commerce measurement
  • Building a content account from an early stage

What you will not be responsible for

  • General business administration
  • Amazon advertising
  • Book-development project management
  • Long-form manuscript writing
  • Generic daily posts that exist only to meet a publishing quota

Initial content focus

The first 90 days will concentrate on:

  • Curiosity, gross facts, animal facts and space content
  • Practical life-skills content for children, tweens, teens and parents
  • Testing two or three brands rather than posting across the complete portfolio

What success looks like after 90 days

  • Two clear brand-content strategies
  • Three to five repeatable video formats
  • A reliable weekly production and publishing system
  • Approximately 8–12 completed video variations per week
  • Multiple hooks tested against the same core content
  • An organised asset and template library
  • Reporting that leads to specific decisions about what to repeat or stop

We will not assess success solely by follower count or one viral video. We care about consistent output, audience response, useful learning and commercial potential.

Compensation and working arrangement

  • Part-time remote role
  • Approximately 20 hours per week
  • Philippines-based
  • ?25,000–?40,000 per month, depending on portfolio and strategic capability
  • Potential to expand into a full-time role
  • Flexible production hours with scheduled UK/Philippines meetings
  • Shortlisted applicants will complete a paid creative assessment

How to apply

Please submit:

1. Your CV.
2. Links to five short-form videos you personally created.
3. Analytics for at least two pieces of content, where available.
4. A short Loom video explaining your creative process.
5. A list of the editing and AI tools you use.
6. Your expected monthly compensation, availability and notice period.

Please answer these questions:

1. Which video in your portfolio best demonstrates your hook-writing ability, and why?
2. How would you create engaging book content without an author appearing on camera?
3. Which metrics do you review after publishing a TikTok?
4. Describe a video that performed poorly and what you learned from it.
5. How do you ensure that stock and AI-generated assets can be used safely?
6. What would you test during the first month of a new book-focused account?

The recruitment process will include an initial portfolio review, an interview, a paid video assignment and a final interview.
