Technical and Creative Video Editor

Part-Time Remote Role

Company Description

We are a Sydney-based video production company creating exciting video content for food, beverage, hospitality, lifestyle and travel brands.

We work with established Australian and global brands to create engaging content and bring their ideas to life through expert video production. Our work ranges from larger commercial campaigns and brand films to social media reels, recipe videos and campaign cutdowns.

We are a small but growing company, and we put a great deal of care into every project. We want to deliver videos that we are proud of and that achieve our clients’ goals.

We are looking for a creative, enthusiastic and detail-oriented video editor who is interested in developing a long-term role with the company.

The Three Pillars of Success

To succeed in this role, you must embody these three core values:

Discipline: You have the self-discipline to manage your time, meet deadlines and work without constant supervision. You carefully read each brief, follow instructions and pay close attention to detail.

Passion: You are passionate about video editing and bring enthusiasm to your work. You want to continually improve your craft, learn new techniques and find creative ways to make each video stronger.

Honesty: You communicate openly, take responsibility for your work and raise problems early. You are a team player who wants to contribute to the overall success of the company.

Role Overview

We are looking for a capable mid-level video editor to work across a variety of commercial and social media projects.

Our projects include:

  • Food and recipe videos
  • Hotel and hospitality content
  • Tourism films
  • Interview-led brand stories
  • Commercial campaigns
  • Instagram and TikTok reels
  • Vertical and horizontal campaign cutdowns

Projects will range from straightforward short-form social edits to polished two-minute campaign videos involving more advanced storytelling, sound editing and colour grading.

The motion graphics component is secondary to the editing role. However, you must be comfortable creating and animating basic text, titles, captions and other simple graphic elements.

We value clean and intentional editing, strong visual storytelling, considered music choices and attention to detail. This is not primarily a high-volume, template-based editing role.

Editing Style and Reference Videos

Our work is visually polished, cinematic and story-led, while still being designed for modern social platforms.

We value strong footage selection, natural pacing, thoughtful music choices, detailed sound design and clean colour grading.

Please watch all three reference videos before applying. They demonstrate the general style, quality and range of editing required for this role.

Social campaign

----------

Short-form social media video

----------

Longer-form campaign video

----------

The successful applicant should be comfortable working towards this level of polish across both short-form social content and longer campaign edits.

We are not looking for someone who relies heavily on templates, excessive transitions, constant animated captions or visual effects that distract from the footage. Editing decisions should feel intentional and support the story, footage and brand.

Core Responsibilities

  • Edit assigned projects using supplied footage, creative briefs and reference materials.
  • Ingest and organise footage in Adobe Premiere Pro according to our project organisation protocols.
  • Sync multicamera footage and separately recorded audio.
  • Review footage and identify the strongest performances, ---------- nts and visual details.
  • Build first assemblies and develop them into polished edits.
  • Edit interview-led videos using dialogue, music and supporting footage.
  • Select appropriate music from approved libraries.
  • Balance dialogue, music and sound effects.
  • Perform basic dialogue cleanup and sound design.
  • Colour-correct and grade professionally shot LOG footage.
  • Create simple text animations, captions, titles and motion graphics.
  • Prepare accurate captions using Australian English.
  • Adapt videos into formats including 16:9, 9:16 and 4:5.
  • Complete internal and client feedback rounds carefully and efficiently.
  • Work with feedback supplied through platforms such as Dropbox Replay.
  • Maintain clear file naming, version control and export organisation.
  • Deliver clean, organised and relinkable project files.
  • Communicate progress clearly and raise technical problems, missing assets or deadline concerns early.

Must-Have Technical Skills

Adobe Premiere Pro: Strong proficiency is required. Premiere Pro is our primary editing platform, and all project files must be created and delivered in Premiere Pro.

Adobe After Effects: Working knowledge is required for titles, text animation and simple motion graphics.

Colour: Experience colour-correcting and grading LOG footage to create a consistent and professional result.

Sound: Experience cleaning dialogue and balancing voice, music and sound effects.

Storytelling: A strong understanding of pacing, music, performance and visual storytelling.

Portfolio: A strong portfolio or reel that includes relevant commercial, branded, hospitality, tourism, food or social media work.

Communication: Strong written and spoken English, with the ability to understand feedback and ask clear questions when necessary.

Remote workflow: Experience working with proxies, relinking media and managing large video projects remotely.

Technical Requirements

You must have:

  • A computer capable of editing professional 4K footage through a proxy workflow.
  • Reliable high-speed internet.
  • Sufficient local storage for active projects.
  • The ability to download and upload large project files.
  • Some availability overlapping with Sydney business hours on agreed working days.

This position is for an individual editor. We are not accepting applications from agencies, studios or outsourcing teams.

Advantageous Experience

The following experience would be beneficial but is not essential:

  • Food, hospitality, hotel or tourism content
  • Sony FX3 or S-Log3 footage
  • Multicamera interview editing
  • DaVinci Resolve
  • More advanced Adobe After Effects skills
  • Dropbox and Dropbox Replay
  • Social-first editing for Instagram, TikTok and paid advertising
  • Working with professional directors, producers or creative agencies

Hours and Compensation

  • Part-time remote position
  • Approximately 20 hours per week
  • Starting rate of US$5.00 to US$8.00 per hour
  • Approximately US$430 to US$690 per month, depending on hours worked
  • The final starting rate will depend on experience, portfolio quality and demonstrated technical ability
  • Opportunities for increased hours and compensation as the role develops
  • Performance and compensation review after the first three months

This is a mid-level position. We are looking for someone with solid professional foundations who can complete many projects independently while continuing to develop their creative and technical skills.

Paid Editing Test

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to complete a more extensive paid editing test.

The test will involve supplied footage, a creative brief and clearly defined deliverables. Applicants will be paid for completing the test.

The test will assess:
