ABOUT THE ROLE

I am building and expanding a financial education and personal development media brand, including BWISE, YouTube content, social media videos, commentary/reaction content, and eventually digital financial education courses.

I am looking for more than someone who simply knows how to cut videos.

I need a creative Video Producer / Editor / Content Researcher who understands how to make educational and commentary content interesting enough that people actually want to keep watching.

You should understand things like:

• Hooks
• Storytelling
• Pacing
• Pattern interrupts
• B-roll
• Captions and on-screen text
• Music and sound effects
• Zooms and visual emphasis
• Retention editing
• Short-form social content
• Long-form YouTube content
• Thumbnails
• Turning one piece of content into multiple pieces of content

You should also be curious about why content performs, not just how to edit it.

WHAT YOU'LL HELP ME CREATE

Content will primarily focus on:

• Money and financial education
• Wealth building
• Sales and entrepreneurship
• Career and income
• Financial behaviors and real-world money conversations
• Commentary and reaction videos
• Trending financial and cultural conversations
• Educational YouTube videos
• Short-form videos for Instagram, Facebook , TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and similar platforms
• Digital financial education/course content

Some videos will be straightforward educational content.

Others may involve me reacting to a video, article, statistic, social media conversation, interview, or trending topic and breaking down what people should understand about it.

The goal is to make complicated or sometimes "boring" financial topics interesting, understandable, conversational, and visually engaging.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Video Editing & Production

You will take raw footage fro ---------- and turn it into polished content.

This may include:

• Editing talking-head videos
• Editing reaction/commentary videos
• Editing long-form YouTube videos
• Creating Reels, Shorts, TikToks, and Facebook videos
• Removing mistakes, pauses, filler, and unnecessary sections
• Adding captions and on-screen text
• Adding B-roll, screenshots, graphics, articles, charts, ---------- s, and other visual elements where appropriate
• Adding music and sound effects when appropriate
• Creating strong openings/hooks
• Using pacing and pattern interrupts to maintain attention
• Repurposing long-form videos into multiple short-form clips
• Helping create YouTube thumbnails
• Preparing videos in the correct format for each platform
• Helping edit and organize future course videos

I do NOT want every video over-edited.

You should understand when a clean professional edit is appropriate and when faster-paced editing, humor, B-roll, graphics, screenshots, or other visual elements will make the content better.

2. Content Research & Trend Research

I don't want to personally search the internet every day looking for things to talk about.

You will help identify potential content opportunities.

Research may include:

• Google Trends
• YouTube
• TikTok
• Instagram
• Facebook
• Reddit
• News and financial publications
• SEMrush or similar SEO/research tools
• YouTube search suggestions
• Competitor/creator research
• Keyword research
• Trending questions and conversations

You may be asked to provide something like:

Topic: Emergency funds vs. investing everything
Why people care: Trending debate around whether cash is "wasted"
Source: [link]
Suggested hook: "Someone just said emergency funds are a waste of money. Here's the problem..."
Supporting information: Relevant statistics/articles
Possible short-form angles: 3 ideas

You should be able to research independently instead of waiting for me to tell you exactly what to search.

3. Clip, B-Roll & Source Research

For commentary and reaction videos, you may help locate:

• Original source videos
• Interviews
• News clips
• Social media posts
• Screenshots
• Statistics
• Articles
• Charts
• Stock footage
• Royalty-free B-roll
• Publicly usable media

When possible, locate the original or appropriately usable source rather than reposted versions containing another creator's watermark.

You should keep source links organized so I know where information and media originated.

4. Content Repurposing

One good idea should not automatically become only one piece of content.

For example, one longer YouTube video might become:

• 1 long-form YouTube video
• 3-6 Shorts/Reels
• Several strong quote or educational clips
• A Facebook video
• Potential future content ideas

Part of your job will be identifying these opportunities.

WHO I'M LOOKING FOR

You may be a great fit if you:

• Have experience editing both short-form and long-form video
• Understand YouTube and social media retention
• Have strong English comprehension
• Can understand American conversational English, humor, slang, and cultural context
• Can tell a story visually
• Know when an edit feels boring
• Can research topics independently
• Are comfortable learning financial topics
• Pay attention to details
• Can follow brand guidelines while also bringing creative ideas
• Are comfortable receiving feedback and revising work
• Are organized
• Meet deadlines
• Communicate when something is unclear
• Can work independently without constant supervision

I especially want someone who will eventually be comfortable saying:

"I found this topic and think you should make a video about it."

And explaining WHY.

• After Effects
• Canva
• Descript
• OpusClip or similar AI clipping tools
• Google Trends
• SEMrush

• AI tools such as ChatGPT
• Other content research, editing, or creator tools

I'm open to better tools and workflows if you know something I don't.

HOURS & GROWTH

This position will begin at up to 10 hours per week.

The schedule can be reasonably flexible because most work will be project and deadline based.

I am looking for someone interested in a long-term working relationship, not someone who only wants a few weeks of freelance work.

As the brand, YouTube channel, courses, and content operation grow, there is an opportunity for this position to grow in hours and potentially become a full-time role.
