Full-Time Social Media Video Editor (Remote)
Confidential employer
I’m looking for a full-time, long?term Social Media Video Editor to help me turn raw footage and ideas into high?performing content for Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and occasional long?form videos (YouTube, promos, trailers, and product videos). The focus is on short?form, scroll?stopping edits with strong hooks, pacing, and storytelling that feel native to each platform, not generic repurposes.
This role is fully remote. You’ll work directly with me (an independent game developer and content creator) and will become the primary editor across my channels.
What you’ll do
1 Edit short?form vertical videos (Reels, TikToks, Shorts) from talking?head, B?roll, screen recordings, and game footage.
2 Create engaging hooks in the first 1–3 seconds and keep strong pacing and retention throughout each video.
3 Add captions, basic motion graphics, transitions, sound effects, and on?screen text that are clean and mobile?friendly.
4 Edit occasional long?form videos such as tutorials, promos, ads, and trailers, including basic colour correction and audio mixing.
5 Repurpose long?form content into multiple short clips in different aspect ratios (9:16, 1:1, 16:9) as needed.
6 Stay on top of platform trends, editing styles, and sounds, and suggest ideas for new formats or improvements.
7 Organise project files, keep exports and assets well?labelled, and meet agreed deadlines consistently.
Tools & software
You should be comfortable with professional editing tools and also open to using lightweight/AI tools when they make the workflow faster.
Required (or equivalent):
1 Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or Final Cut Pro
2 Canva or Photoshop for simple graphics and thumbnails
3 Google Drive / Dropbox for file sharing
Nice to have:
1 After Effects or similar for motion graphics
2 Descript, CapCut, Runway, Opus, or other AI tools for rough cuts, captions, and repurposing
3 Experience using review or project tools like ---------- , Notion, Trello, or ClickUp
Requirements
1 Solid experience editing short?form social media content (Reels, TikTok, Shorts, Facebook ). Please only apply if you already have examples.
2 Strong sense of storytelling, pacing, and timing for content that needs to grab attention fast and keep people watching.
3 Ability to match an existing style from references and keep edits on?brand and consistent.
4 Good ear for music and sound design: balancing dialogue, music, and SFX for phone speakers.
5 Reliable internet and a computer that can handle 1080p (and ideally 4K) footage smoothly.
6 Organized, responsive, and able to take feedback without ego and turn it into better edits.
7 Comfortable working in an async, remote setup with clear deadlines and expectations.
Schedule & compensation
1 Hours: 40 hours per week (full?time), Monday–Friday (with some flexibility).
2 Rate: USD $3/hour (approx. $480/month), with room for increases based on performance and longevity.
3 Contract: Long?term – I’m looking for someone who wants to grow with the brand, not a short project.
How to apply
To be considered, please follow these steps carefully (applications that skip these will not be reviewed):
Portfolio
Send 2-3 links to your best short?form edits (Reels, TikToks, Shorts, or similar).
For each link, include 1–2 sentences about what you did and what you’re proud of (e.g., hook, pacing, graphics).
IMPORTANT: Internet speed & computer specs
- Attach a screenshot from [speedtest.net] showing your current internet speed (download and upload).
- Attach a screenshot of your computer specs (CPU, RAM, GPU, storage).
Tools
List the editing and related tools you currently use (e.g., Premiere Pro + CapCut + Descript + Canva + ---------- ), and your experience level with each (Beginner / Intermediate / Advanced).
Short written question
In 3–5 sentences, tell me:
Which creator/channel’s editing style you admire and why.
What you think matters most for retention on Reels/TikTok.
Please include the word “mobamon” at the top of your application so I know you read the full post.
Best,
Sean
