About the Role

General Administration & Bookkeeping Support
Remote — Philippines-Based Applicants Only | Supporting an Australian Electrical Contracting & Consulting Business

About the Business
We are a small, Australian-based electrical contracting and consulting company. As our business grows, we need a reliable, detail-oriented administration and bookkeeping support person to help keep our finances, accounts, and office running smoothly — with the flexibility to work remotely from the Philippines.

The Role
This role starts at 2 days per week, with a clear path to expanding to 5 days per week (full-time) in the near term as your workload and our business needs grow. You will work directly with the business owner, handling day-to-day bookkeeping, payroll, creditor management, and general administrative support, plus acting as backup phone cover on your rostered days.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process payroll accurately and on time
  • Manage accounts payable (creditors) — entering, reconciling, and scheduling supplier payments
  • Perform basic bookkeeping and data entry in MYOB or Xero
  • Prepare end-of-month statements and reports ready for BAS lodgement
  • Follow up on outstanding customer accounts and chase overdue payments
  • Provide backup telephone answering and call handling on rostered days
  • General administrative support as required (filing, correspondence, data management)

What We're Looking For

  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Demonstrated competence in MYOB or Xero (please specify which in your application)
  • Solid, practical bookkeeping skills — payroll, accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliation
  • Confident with spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets)
  • Comfortable with telephone-based customer contact and follow-up
  • Reliable home internet connection and a quiet workspace suitable for phone calls
  • Prior experience supporting an Australian business or client is an advantage

Hours & Schedule

  • Starting schedule: 2 fixed days per week, to be agreed
  • Hours: 8:30am – 4:30pm Australian Eastern Time (approx. 6:30am – 2:30pm Philippine Time; this shifts around one hour earlier during the Australian daylight-saving period, October–April, depending on the client's state)
  • Growth path: this role is expected to expand to 5 days per week (full-time) relatively soon as the working relationship develops

Compensation & Equipment

  • Rate: AUD $100 per day, paid for each day worked (open to discussion for the right candidate as the role expands to full-time)
  • Equipment: a laptop and VoIP telephone connection will be supplied for the role
  • Payment via international transfer in AUD or PHP equivalent, to be agreed

How to Apply
Please send your CV along with a short cover note that includes:

  • Your experience with MYOB and/or Xero
  • Your experience with payroll and accounts payable/creditors
  • Your availability to start, and your preferred 2 working days per week
  • Confirmation you can work the 8:30am–4:30pm AEST schedule from the Philippines
