Freelance Video Editor — Per-Project Work, No Time Tracking (Ongoing)
Confidential employer
OVERVIEW:
Excellent Media is building out our Approved Vendors list — a bench of freelance video editors who take on commercial and social media editing projects alongside our retained team.
This is not a full-time job and it is not a monthly salary position. You are paid a flat, agreed amount per project. You see the pay and the estimated hours before you take anything, and you d ---------- whether you want it. If you don't want a project, you don't take it. There is no penalty for passing.
We are looking to add 3–4 editors to the list over the next two weeks.
HOW IT WORKS:
Projects are email ed out to the vendor list as they come in, with the pay amount and estimated hours listed up front.
If you want a project, you claim it by replying to the email . First reply gets the project.
You complete the edit, submit it for internal review, and we handle the client.
You invoice twice a month and are paid on fixed dates.
We do not guarantee a minimum number of projects, and available volume varies from week to week depending on our client load. Alongside client work, we run a baseline flow of internal marketing projects, so there are projects available every week — but busy weeks and quiet weeks are both normal, and we can't promise there will always be enough for everyone.
This position works best as supplemental income for an editor who already has other work, or who is between clients and wants steady access to projects without a fixed commitment.
WHAT WE PROVIDE:
-No time tracking. No screenshots. No monitoring software. You are paid per project, not per hour.
-Fixed payment dates. Invoices are submitted twice monthly and paid on schedule, every time.
-Paid test projects. We do not ask editors to work for free. Our application process includes one short unpaid written sample assignment, followed by two rounds of paid test projects — all paid at the standard program rate — before you are added to the list.
-Premiere Pro or CapCut is fine. You only need one of them. Free CapCut is acceptable.
-Licensed music and stock assets provided. You request what you want and we license it through our company account.
-Clear written project briefs, a written revision process, and a full Operations Manual so you always know what's expected.
-Work on your own schedule, from wherever you want.
REQUIREMENTS:
-Demonstrated commercial or social media video editing experience — we need to see your work.
-Access to Premiere Pro or CapCut.
-Written English strong enough to work from written briefs and revision notes.
-A reliable computer capable of handling 4K source footage, and a reliable internet connection.
-Ability to hit deadlines without being chased.
RATE:
Projects are paid a flat rate based on the scope of the project, with the pay and estimated hours stated on every offer before you d ---------- whether to take it. Most offers fall in the $10–15 range. Editors working at a normal pace earn the equivalent of roughly $3–5 per hour; our most efficient editors consistently land in the $4–6 range.
