Job Description
As a Criminal Law Paralegal, you will support attorneys and clients throughout the criminal defense process. You will manage case files, draft legal documents, track deadlines, organize discovery, and assist with hearing and trial preparation.
We are especially interested in candidates who demonstrate employment stability, professional growth, increased responsibility, leadership experience, and ownership of substantial projects or case assignments.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft motions, pleadings, discovery requests, subpoenas, correspondence, and other case-related documents.
- Conduct legal research and summarize findings for attorney review.
- Organize and maintain criminal case files.
- Track court dates, hearings, filing deadlines, and other case requirements.
- Review and organize discovery, police reports, witness statements, evidence, and case records.
- Assist with hearing and trial preparation, including exhibits, witness lists, timelines, and trial binders.
- Communicate professionally with clients, courts, prosecutors, law enforcement agencies, witnesses, and other parties.
- Maintain accurate client and case information in the firm’s case-management system.
- Manage substantial assignments and projects from beginning to completion.
- Provide guidance, training, and administrative support when needed.
Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience as a paralegal or legal assistant
- Criminal law or criminal defense experience is strongly preferred, but candidates with substantial paralegal experience in other practice areas may be considered.
- Stable employment history, preferably including at least one position held for 5 years or longer.
- Demonstrated professional growth, promotions, or increased responsibilities.
- Experience managing substantial projects, training tea ---------- mbers, or taking on leadership responsibilities.
- Strong legal drafting, research, organization, and case-management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and case-management systems.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment with minimal supervision.
Work Schedule
- Full-time, 40 hours per week.
- Must be available during U.S. Eastern Time business hours for team coordination.
