Today’s Hip Hop is looking for a writer who is passionate about independent hip hop culture and understands that some of the most important artists are building their careers outside the major label system.

Your role is to help readers discover independent artists by creating informative, engaging, and accurate content. This is not a breaking news position. Instead, the focus is on producing evergreen features, artist spotlights, resource articles, and event updates that provide lasting value to both fans and artists.

Responsibilities include:

• Write feature stories highlighting independent hip hop artists from around the world.
• Cover new album announcements, EPs, singles, tours, and major career milestones.
• Create artist profile articles that introduce readers to emerging and established independent talent.
• Publish event announcements and maintain updates to the Today’s Hip Hop events calendar, including concerts, showcases, listening parties, and community events.
• Write resource-driven content that helps independent artists grow their careers, including topics such as marketing, distribution, touring, merchandise, branding, publishing, streaming, and fan engagement.
• Identify new independent artists each week and expand Today’s Hip Hop’s coverage across different regions and styles.
• Research information from official artist websites, press releases, verified social media accounts, and reputable sources to ensure accuracy.
• Write in a conversational, journalistic style that is informative, objective, and easy to read.
• Avoid clickbait, rumors, gossip, or unverified information.
• Submit articles with SEO-friendly headlines, meta descriptions, suggested keywords, and image recommendations when appropriate.
