About the Role

Build Meta ads that make people stop, watch and buy

We are a growing UK-based portfolio of direct-to-consumer ecommerce brands. Paid creative is one of our most important growth levers, and we are hiring a genuinely performance-minded video editor to become a long-term member of our creative team.

This is not a general social-media editing role. We are not looking for cinematic montages, podcast clips or someone who simply follows a shot list. We need an editor who understands the job of a Meta ad: earn attention, make the message easy to follow, create desire and move the viewer toward action.

What you will own

  • Turn creative briefs, scripts, UGC, product footage, reviews and sourced material into mobile-first Meta ads.
  • Create UGC, voiceover/B-roll, testimonial, problem-solution, product-demo, founder-style and mini-VSL edits.
  • Build purposeful hook variants and iterations from performance feedback rather than making cosmetic changes.
  • Improve pacing, visual hierarchy, captions, sound design, pattern interrupts and proof so each second earns the next.
  • Source or generate suitable B-roll and supporting visuals, while keeping an auditable source list and respecting usage rights.
  • Check every edit against the product facts, landing page, offer and brand standards; flag any mismatch or unsupported claim before delivery.
  • Study winners, losers, competitors and customer language; create original iterations and bring clear editing hypotheses back to the creative team.
  • Keep current with Meta ad policies and delivery specifications, and escalate compliance risk rather than guessing.
  • Keep projects, assets, versions and exports impeccably organised and flag blockers early.
  • Respond to feedback quickly, explain your choices calmly and improve the work without ego.

What excellent looks like

  • You can explain exactly why the first three seconds should stop the right customer - not just say a hook is 'engaging'.
  • You understand the difference between hook/thumb-stop rate, hold/retention, CTR, CVR and ROAS, including what editing can and cannot influence.
  • Your visual choices clarify the sales message. Effects serve the idea; they never become the idea.
  • You can make strong work from imperfect or limited source material and propose practical alternatives when an asset is missing.
  • You learn from performance data and feedback, then turn one insight into several meaningfully different tests.
  • You are reliable in an async team: clear updates, realistic deadlines, clean handoffs and no disappearing when something is difficult.

Required evidence

  • A portfolio containing real ecommerce or direct-response paid ads. Generic showreels are not enough.
  • Strong command of a professional editing workflow such as Premiere Pro, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve or CapCut Desktop.
  • Hands-on experience with UGC and B-roll-led ads, captions, sound design and mobile-first 9:16 delivery.
  • Good written English, dependable internet, an editing-capable computer and a realistic backup plan for outages.
  • Full-time availability and the desire to build depth with one long-term team. Existing commitments must be disclosed.

Useful but not mandatory

  • Experience with AI video, AI UGC, voice generation or enhancement tools such as Runway, Kling, HeyGen, Arcads, ElevenLabs or equivalent.
  • Experience reviewing Meta creative performance or working closely with a media buyer or creative strategist.
  • Light motion-graphics capability and confidence adapting creative for different placements, offers or audiences.

What we offer

  • $1,200-$1,600 USD per month, based on relevant evidence and paid-test performance.
  • A stable, full-time, long-term role with flexible working hours and sensible UK/Philippines collaboration windows.
  • Clear briefs, access to tools and assets, direct performance feedback and structured creative coaching.
  • Paid leave, a pro-rated 13th-month benefit, skills-development support and a clearly defined, capped performance bonus after the ramp period.
  • A fully paid one-month mutual ramp period with a written day-30 review; there is no reduced trainee rate.
  • A genuine path toward Senior Editor or Creative Lead as judgement, performance and ownership grow.
  • A paid practical test for shortlisted candidates. We do not ask applicants for hours of free production work.

How to apply - follow every step

Use the subject line: META BUILDER | [your first name]

Begin the first line of your message with: I optimise for the sale, not the showreel.

Then answer the questions below in order. Keep the whole application concise. Do not send a portfolio dump.

1. Share exactly three ecommerce/direct-response ads that best represent you. For each: product/category, ad format, what you personally owned, and the public or unlisted link.
2. For each ad, share any performance context you are genuinely allowed to disclose. If you were not given spend or results, write 'not shared' and explain what feedback or iteration signal you did receive.
3. Choose the strongest of those three ads. Why should its first three seconds work for the intended buyer, and what exact edit would you improve today? Maximum 120 words.
4. Scenario: an ad has a strong hook rate but weak CTR. What three editing hypotheses would you test next, and why? Maximum 150 words.
5. List the editing and AI tools you have used on real client work. Separate advanced, working and learning-level tools.
6. What is your expected monthly salary in USD, earliest start date and full-time availability? Disclose any current job, retainer or ongoing freelance commitment.
7. What computer do you edit on, what is your usual internet speed, and what is your backup plan for electricity or internet failure?
8. If shortlisted, can you complete a paid, standardised 2-3 hour editing test within a 48-hour window?

Automatic disqualifiers: Missing the subject/first-line instruction; no relevant ecommerce ads; unclear ownership of portfolio work; copied claims presented as personal work; undisclosed conflicting full-time employment; or unwillingness to complete the paid test.
