About the Role

As our Mechanical Drafter (Piping), you will prepare accurate, high-quality mechanical and piping drawings for water treatment, water infrastructure, and industrial projects. You'll work closely with engineers and project managers to produce construction-ready documentation that meets Australian standards and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed mechanical and piping drawings based on engineering sketches, markups, specifications, and project requirements.
Produce Piping General Arrangement (GA), piping layout, isometric, fabrication, and equipment arrangement drawings.
Prepare piping support details, spool drawings, and installation drawings.
Revise and maintain drawings throughout the project lifecycle.
Ensure all drawings comply with Australian Standards and project requirements.
Coordinate with mechanical engineers, process engineers, and project managers.
Interpret Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), equipment datasheets, and engineering specifications.
Assist in preparing construction documentation for water treatment plants, pump stations, pipelines, and related mechanical systems.
Maintain organized drawing registers and revision records.
Incorporate design changes and deliver documentation on schedule.
Required Skills & Experience
Proven experience as a Mechanical Drafter, Piping Drafter, or Mechanical Design Draftsperson.
Proficient in AutoCAD. Experience with Plant 3D, Revit MEP, Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar software is an advantage.
Strong understanding of mechanical drafting principles and piping design.
Experience producing piping layouts, GA drawings, isometric drawings, fabrication drawings, and installation drawings.
Ability to interpret P&IDs, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
Excellent attention to detail and drafting accuracy.
Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
Reliable internet connection and ability to work independently from home.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting Australian engineering, utilities, water treatment, or industrial projects.
Knowledge of Australian Standards for mechanical and piping systems.
Experience with:
Water treatment and wastewater projects
Pump stations
Process piping systems
Stainless steel, carbon steel, HDPE, PVC, and ductile iron piping
Pumps, valves, pressure vessels, and process equipment
AutoCAD Plant 3D or similar plant design software
Material Take-Offs (MTOs) and construction documentation
Bachelor's degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Drafting, Engineering Design, or a related discipline is preferred.
