About the Role:
Position Overview
We are seeking a QA Automation Engineer to own quality assurance across our Salesforce platform and integration layer. Reporting to the Tech Lead & Tech Director, the successful candidate will serve as the sole dedicated QA resource on the team and will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining automated test cases for our Salesforce Flows, Apex code, and the integrations we operate between Salesforce and external systems.
This role works closely with two counterparts: the Senior Salesforce Developer, who owns Apex, Lightning Web Components, and declarative customizations, and the Integration Engineer, who owns the API integrations between our Salesforce environment and client CRMs, including the transition of bulk integrations from Salesforce Apex to AWS Lambda. The QA Automation Engineer is embedded in both workstreams: reviewing pull requests, defining test strategy, wiring automated tests into our CI/CD pipelines, and acting as the quality gate before changes reach production.
This is a hands-on, high-ownership role. The position requires a practitioner who treats test automation as an engineering discipline: writing maintainable test code, evaluating coverage critically, and continuously improving the pipeline rather than executing manual test scripts.
Key Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain automated test cases for Salesforce Flows and Apex code, including Apex unit tests, integration tests, and UI test automation for Lightning Web Components.
Build and maintain automated API and integration tests for our existing integrations, covering REST and SOAP endpoints, webhook flows, OAuth 2.0 authentication paths, and AWS Lambda functions, including mocked vendor responses and end-to-end scenarios.
Participate in pull request reviews as a required reviewer, evaluating changes for test coverage, regression risk, and adherence to team engineering standards before approval.
Integrate automated test execution into our CI/CD pipeline so tests run on every pull request, with quality gates that block deployments on test failures.
Collaborate with the Integration Engineer on establishing the CI/CD pipeline for serverless deployments, contributing the testing and validation stages.
Define and document test strategy per feature and per integration, including test data management and sandbox environment strategy.
Build regression suites that run on a schedule and on deployment, and triage failures to distinguish genuine defects from environment or data issues.
Verify error handling and retry behavior of integrations, including how they respond to API failures and bad data.
Track, document, and report defects with clear reproduction steps, and verify fixes through automated regression coverage.
Apply AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Codex, MCP-based agentic workflows) to accelerate test authoring and maintenance while independently validating all generated test code.
Maintain comprehensive documentation of test coverage, known gaps, and quality metrics, and report on release readiness to the Tech Lead and Tech Director.
Required Qualifications
Experience: 4–6 years of professional QA experience, with at least 3 years focused on test automation.
Test Automation: Demonstrated proficiency building automated UI and API test suites from scratch, not only maintaining existing ones. Any modern UI automation framework is acceptable (Playwright, Selenium, or similar), as is any API testing tool (Postman/Newman or similar). We care about the skill, not the specific tool.
Salesforce Testing: Hands-on experience testing Salesforce applications, including Apex test classes, the 75% code coverage requirement for deployment, testing Flows end to end, and the challenges of automating against the Lightning Experience UI.
API & Integration Testing: Experience testing REST APIs and webhooks, including authentication flows, payload validation, and negative testing against API limits and failure modes.
CI/CD: Hands-on experience wiring automated tests into a CI/CD pipeline so they run on every pull request, and configuring quality gates that block deployments on test failures. GitHub Actions or comparable tooling.
PR Review: Experience participating in pull request workflows, including reviewing code changes for testability and coverage, and working with branch protection and required-review policies.
Scripting: Proficiency in at least one scripting language used for test automation (JavaScript/TypeScript or Python preferred).
AI-Assisted Development: Hands-on experience with AI development tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or comparable tooling, with the ability to critically evaluate AI-generated test code rather than accepting it without review.
Engineering Discipline: A proven track record of writing maintainable, version-controlled test code with clear documentation.
Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to work effectively as an embedded quality partner within small development teams, including with developers whose code is under review.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Salesforce-specific test automation platforms such as Provar or Copado Robotic Testing.
Experience with Litify or other vertical SaaS platforms built on Salesforce.
Experience testing AWS serverless workloads such as Lambda functions and API Gateway endpoints.
Familiarity with Salesforce DX, sandboxes, and scratch orgs for test environment management.
Salesforce certifications (Platform App Builder, Platform Developer I).
Approach to AI-Assisted Development
We view AI development tools as a productivity multiplier for skilled engineers, not a substitute for engineering judgment. The successful candidate will use these tools to accelerate test authoring and maintenance while maintaining accountability for the quality and correctness of all test coverage. Candidates whose practice depends on accepting AI-generated output without independent review are not a fit for this position.
Performance Expectations (First Six Months)
Establish automated regression coverage for the highest-risk areas of the Salesforce platform, with tests running in CI on every pull request.
Stand up automated test coverage for at least two of our existing integrations, including negative and failure-mode scenarios.
Become a required reviewer on all production-bound pull requests, with documented review standards adopted by the team.
Contribute the testing and quality-gate stages of the serverless CI/CD pipeline in collaboration with the Integration Engineer.
Deliver at least one reusable AI- or agent-driven testing workflow adopted by the broader team.
Application Instructions
Interested candidates should submit a resume, a link to a code portfolio or GitHub profile demonstrating test automation work, and a brief written response describing an automated testing framework or suite they have built, including the tooling selected, how it was integrated into CI/CD, and any lessons learned.
