Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Bookkeeper to support our property management and accounting operations. The ideal candidate will have experience handling financial tasks within a property management environment, including rent collections, bank reconciliations, accounts payable, and tenant renewals. This role requires strong organizational skills, excellent customer service abilities, and proficiency in Appfolio. The Bookkeeper will work closely with landlords, tenants, and internal teams to ensure accurate financial records, timely payments, and smooth day-to-day financial operations in a remote setting.
Key Responsibilities
Manage rent collections, track payments, and follow up on outstanding balances
Perform accurate bank reconciliations and maintain up-to-date financial records
Process accounts payable, including vendor invoices and expense tracking
Assist with tenant renewals, lease updates, and financial documentation
Provide professional customer service to tenants, landlords, and vendors
Communicate regularly with remote landlords regarding financial reports and account updates
Maintain organized bookkeeping records in Appfolio
Reconcile rent rolls, ledgers, and payment reports
Support month-end and year-end closing processes
Monitor financial discrepancies and resolve issues promptly
Assist with financial reporting and data entry as needed
Qualifications
Proven experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or property management accounting
Proficiency in Appfolio (required)
Experience with bank reconciliation, accounts payable, and rent collections
Strong understanding of tenant renewals and property management financial workflows
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Highly organized with strong attention to detail
Ability to work independently in a remote environment
Strong time management and multitasking skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets is a plus
Preferred Skills
Experience working with remote landlords or property management companies
Knowledge of rent tracking systems or property management software
Familiarity with lease administration and tenant financial processes
Problem-solving mindset with a high level of accountability
