About the Role

IT Support Engineer (MSP) – Remote | Ownership, Not Tickets

Location: Remote
Type: Part-time (20 hours/week to start) with potential to grow to full-time
Hours: 10am–2pm UK
Pay: £6 per hour

About the Role:
This isn’t a typical IT support position. You won’t be stuck in a helpdesk queue, passing tickets, or limited to a narrow task list. Instead, you’ll take full ownership of multiple IT environments, solving problems end-to-end and proactively improving systems. We’re looking for someone who asks, “How can this be better?” rather than “That’s not my job.”

Key Responsibilities:
Administer, troubleshoot, and optimize Microsoft 365 (Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, Entra ID)
Support Windows desktops and basic server environments
Manage networking tasks: DNS, DHCP, VPNs, Wi-Fi, and firewalls
Implement cybersecurity improvements and best practices
Assist with onboarding new users and migrations
Communicate directly with users in plain English, not IT jargon
Proactively review systems, identify gaps, and improve environments even when things are quiet

What We’re Looking For:
A well-rounded IT professional comfortable across the full IT stack
Someone who solves problems fully and takes ownership until resolved
Strong understanding that security is part of everything
Ability to work independently, troubleshoot complex issues, and figure things out
Proactive mindset during downtime; reviewing, optimizing, and improving systems

Required Skills & Experience:
Previous experience in IT support or MSP environments
Strong Microsoft 365 knowledge (essential)
Experience with Entra ID & Intune
Solid Windows desktop and basic server support
Strong networking fundamentals
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills with non-technical users

Nice-to-Have (Bonuses):
Google Workspace experience
macOS knowledge
Cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., Cyber Essentials)
Backup and disaster recovery experience
RMM/PSA tool experience

Hours & Growth:
Start with 20 hours per week (10am–2pm UK)
Opportunity to increase to full-time as the role grows
Long-term role with strong progression potential

Requirements (Non-Negotiable):
Modern, serviceable computer (e.g., Windows 11, i5+, 16GB RAM minimum)
Stable, high-speed internet connection
Secure, dedicated workspace
Applicants must provide PC specs and an internet speed screenshot

Why You’ll Love This Role:
Varied and challenging work; no two days are the same
Real autonomy and ownership
Opportunity to impact IT systems directly and improve efficiency
Exposure to business decisions and technology projects
A role where your input matters, not just following scripts

What This Role Isn’t:
Not a call center
Not a “stick to your lane” job
Not a role where you hide behind tickets

How to Apply:
Use “Vixa Hire” in the subject line of your application.
Send your resume and cover letter.
Include your internet speed test result and a screenshot of your laptop specs.
We look forward to receiving your application.
