MUSIC TRANSCRIPTION SPECIALIST (PIANO SHEET MUSIC)

Remote | Gig / Project-Based Position

Flat Fee Per Song (Paid Per Minute of Music)

I am a music teacher looking for a talented musician who can listen to songs and accurately write them into printable piano sheet music for my students.

This is a GIG position.

There are no guaranteed hours.

Whenever I need a song transcribed, I will send you the audio or YouTube link, and you will create the sheet music.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Your job is to listen to a song and create accurate piano sheet music that can be used for teaching students.

This may include:

• Melody
• Rhythm
• Chords
• Left-hand accompaniment
• Proper key signature
• Time signature
• Clear notation
• Easy-to-read formatting

Most songs will be pop songs, worship songs, children's songs, movie songs, or other music commonly requested by piano students.

IMPORTANT

This is NOT a learn-on-the-job position.

Previous music transcription experience is REQUIRED.

You should already know how to:

• Identify notes by ear
• Write music notation
• Create clean sheet music
• Use music notation software such as MuseScore, Sibelius, Finale, or Dorico

DELIVERABLES

For each project, you must provide:

• Printable PDF sheet music
• Editable MuseScore (.mscz) file (preferred)
• Or editable Sibelius / Finale file if you use those programs

COMPENSATION

Payment is based on the length of the FINISHED MUSIC, not the amount of time you spend working.

Standard songs: approximately $2.50 per minute of music.

More difficult songs may be paid at a higher rate.

Minimum payment per project: $10.

Examples:

• 4-minute song = $10
• 5-minute song = $12.50
• 8-minute song = $20
• 12-minute song = $30

• Able to create clean, professional-looking sheet music
• Reliable and responsive
• Comfortable working independently

• Ability to simplify songs for beginners
• Ability to create easy/intermediate/advanced versions
• Ability to transpose songs into different keys
• Experience teaching piano
• Experience arranging music for students
