About the Role

Carousel Graphic Designer (Contract-to-Hire)

Company: Localize, the farmers market & local farm finder app
Role: Carousel Graphic Designer
Type: Contract-to-hire (trial task, then part-time contract, ramping to full-time)
Location: Remote
Niche: Health & wellness / local food

ABOUT LOCALIZE

Localize is a mobile app that helps people find local farms, farmers markets, and fresh food near them. We're currently doing 75 million views a month and are one of the fastest-growing mobile apps of 2026. A big part of that reach comes from carousels: swipeable, save-worthy posts that break down the food system, spotlight farms, and make people rethink where their food comes from. We're looking for a designer to own the carousel side of that pipeline so our team can focus on the ideas and the copy.

These are examples of what our carousel pages look like:

WHAT YOU'LL DO

We give you everything: the finished copy, the hooks, and the content for every slide, plus a template to work from. Your job is purely the graphic design, taking that and making it eye-catching and clean.

  • Lay out multi-slide carousels off our template with a clear slide-to-slide flow
  • Build clean typography and information hierarchy so each slide is instantly readable
  • Drop in simple, relevant supporting visuals (charts, photos, icons) that reinforce the point
  • Deliver carousels ready to publish across social (Instagram, TikTok, etc.)

All content is short and swipeable. We want simple, clear, clean visuals that catch the eye. That's the whole brief. Specifically:

Yes: readable type, clean layouts, good use of whitespace, eye-catching visuals that support the message
No: cluttered slides, decorative clutter, hard-to-read fonts, or AI-generated imagery

If your instinct is to keep a slide clean and let the idea carry it, you'll fit right in.

Here are two carousels in the exact style you'd be designing:

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • A strong visual eye for what's eye-catching (this is the most important thing)
  • Strong graphic design skills, ideally with carousels or social graphics that performed
  • A sense for what makes visuals stop the scroll and get saved (viral instinct)
  • Prior social media experience is a big plus
  • A genuine interest in health, wellness, or the food system is a plus too
  • Reliable, fast turnaround and easy to work with
  • Comfort working off a provided template, with the copy and content spec'd for you

HOW TO APPLY

Please send:

1. Your portfolio, with links to carousels or social graphics you've designed
2. Any relevant experience in social media
3. Anything interesting in health & wellness, or a genuine passion for the food system
4. Links to any carousels or posts that went viral, with a quick note on what you did
5. A bit about your current work: what other companies or clients you design for, whether you're working with anyone right now, and whether you'd have the capacity to ramp to full-time with us

A few quick screening questions (please answer these, they matter to us):

6. Look at the two example carousels linked above. Pick one and tell us one thing you'd keep and one thing you'd change about the design.
7. In one line, what makes a carousel's first slide stop the scroll?

Please send your answers back as a numbered list (1 through 7) plus the best email to reach you, so we can send a short trial task if you move on to the next round.

We review applications on a rolling basis and reach out to strong fits to kick things off. Aiming to start ASAP!
