Telos CPAs is looking for a highly skilled Senior Bookkeeping & Workflow Lead to support our growing nonprofit accounting firm. This role will begin at approximately 20 hours per week and is expected to grow into a full-time role within about 6 months, as client volume increases.
This is a great fit for someone who is not only excellent at bookkeeping, but also enjoys improving systems, reviewing work, creating better workflows, and helping ensure clients are served with accuracy, consistency, and care.
The ideal candidate is highly experienced in QuickBooks Online, detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable identifying errors, cleaning up messy books, improving processes, and reviewing another bookkeeper’s work. This person should be able to think beyond simply completing tasks and help build the systems needed to make sure recurring bookkeeping work is done correctly and on time.
Responsibilities
- Perform bookkeeping work in QuickBooks Online for nonprofit clients.
- Review bookkeeping work completed by others and identify errors, inconsistencies, or missing steps.
- Help clean up messy books and correct prior bookkeeping issues.
- Support the creation and improvement of workflows, checklists, and review processes in Financial Cents.
- Help ensure recurring client tasks, deadlines, and follow-ups are properly tracked and completed.
- Communicate professionally with clients by email to request information, follow up on open items, and answer bookkeeping-related questions.
- Provide feedback to other bookkeepers in a clear, respectful, and helpful way.
- Help improve internal systems so client work becomes more accurate, consistent, and efficient.
- As the role grows, this position may develop into a lead or supervisory role supporting other bookkeeping tea ---------- mbers.
Requirements
- Strong expertise in QuickBooks Online, including transaction review, reconciliations, corrections, cleanup work, and troubleshooting.
- Solid bookkeeping knowledge and the ability to recognize when something does not look right.
- Experience reviewing or correcting another person’s bookkeeping work.
- Strong written English skills for frequent client email communication.
- High attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to create, follow, and improve repeatable processes.
- Comfortable giving feedback and helping others improve their work.
- Flexible availability for occasional meetings that may take place early morning or late evening due to time zone differences.
Preferred Qualifications (but not required)
- Experience with nonprofit bookkeeping or nonprofit accounting.
- Experience using Financial Cents or similar workflow/project management software.
- Familiarity with Ramp, Gusto, Stripe, PayPal, Excel, Google Workspace, Hubdoc, and QuickBooks Payroll.
- Experience helping build bookkeeping workflows, SOPs, checklists, or review processes.
Role Growth
This position will begin part-time at approximately 20 hours per week. As our client base grows, we expect the role to transition to full-time after approximately 6 months. Over time, this person may take on more review, workflow, and lead responsibilities while continuing to support bookkeeping work directly.
