About the Role
A New Zealand regional community newspaper is looking for an experienced graphic designer to join their team directly, handling page layout and ad design for their weekly print edition.

Key Responsibilities:

• Page layout. Lay out the full weekly edition (tabloid format), currently around 24 pages and growing toward 32 pages
• Ad design. Build ads not supplied print ready by clients
• Classifieds layout. Format and lay out the classified advertising section
• Work from content and copy that is pre-approved by the editor. No copywriting, editing, or journalistic work required
• Potential to grow into mentoring additional tea ---------- mbers as the client's operation scales

Requirements

• Senior level Adobe InDesign skills, as this is the primary production tool
• Strong general graphic design ability
• Familiarity with, or ability to quickly learn, Synergy

Strong command of English, with the ability to pick up New Zealand terminology, idioms, and place names
Detail oriented, with layout that's accurate and print ready ahead of final proofing
