Traidie is recruiting an experienced Tekla Draftsperson to join a growing consultancy team delivering scaffold and temporary works designs for international construction projects.
This position is suited to a technically capable draftsperson who can create detailed 3D models and convert them into clear, accurate and professionally presented 2D construction drawings.
Essential requirement
You must have:
- At least three years of professional experience using Tekla Structures
- Examples of your own Tekla models and drawing output that you can confidently present and discuss
Please do not apply if you cannot demonstrate both of these requirements.
Previous scaffolding experience is not essential. However, you must already be a confident and experienced Tekla user. Training will be provided in scaffold design, ScaffPlan and the company’s internal standards, but not in the fundamentals of Tekla Structures.
What you’ll be doing
Your responsibilities will include:
- Creating accurate 3D scaffold models using Tekla Structures and ScaffPlan
- Converting 3D models into clear and accurate 2D construction drawings
- Producing layouts, plans, sections, elevations, details and 3D views
- Preparing base-out dimensions and information required for scaffold installation
- Incorporating buildings, structures, equipment and site information into project models
- Working with architectural, structural, civil and mechanical reference models
- Coordinating IFC, DWG, DXF, PDF and point-cloud information where required
- Identifying clashes, missing information and potential constructability issues
- Producing material and equipment lists from completed models
- Revising models and drawings following internal reviews and engineering feedback
- Completing your own quality checks before submitting work for review
- Working with Australian designers, engineers and project managers
- Managing assigned work to meet agreed deadlines
What we’re looking for
To be considered, you must have:
- A minimum of three years’ professional Tekla Structures experience
- Strong 3D modelling and construction-documentation skills
- Proven experience converting 3D models into accurate 2D drawings
- Experience producing plans, sections, elevations and construction details
- A good understanding of construction drawings, dimensions, levels and structural geometry
- Strong spatial awareness and attention to detail
- Good written and spoken English
- The ability to understand written instructions, drawing mark-ups and verbal project briefings
- Good time-management and organisational skills
- Availability during agreed Australian business hours
- A reliable and accountable approach to your work
Highly regarded experience
The following would be an advantage but is not essential:
- Scaffold drafting or scaffold design
- ScaffPlan
- Temporary works or construction access systems
- Point clouds or laser-scanning data
- Australian construction or engineering projects
- IFC and CAD-reference coordination
- A qualification in drafting, BIM, engineering technology, construction or a related field
